We explore the various endeavours McGill University's Arts students pursure, and are intrigued by, during their free time. Each episode features a discussion with one of these students, as they describe their initiative, media outreach, and personal interests on the topic.     CKUT's Sojourns Podcast

    In this episode of Arts After Hours, Communications Assistant Chantay Alexander interviews the cast and crew from CKUT's well-known podcast Sojourns. Created by writer and McGill Arts student Fred Azeredo, it takes the format of an audio drama as his characters navigate the wildest scenarios imaginable - from aliens and space witches in the 23rd century, to 1930s Auora, Texas, somewhere in between reality and dreamland. CKUT is a non-profit, campus-community radio station based at McGill University. It is host to a wide variety of music, news, and spoken word programming available all day, every day.     Salseros McGill

    In this episode of Arts After Hours, Communications Assistant Chantay Alexander interviews Cece Magyar, co-President of Salseros McGill. Salseros is a Latin dance club on campus that aims to bring the art of dance to our own McGill communities. The club offers classes varying in skill level, from beginner to advanced, and also hosts events throughout the school year. We discussed Cece's involvement in the club, her background in dance, and how artistic forms of expression like dance can translate to better mental and physical wellbeing overall.     In this episode of Arts After Hours, Communications Assistant Chantay Alexander interviews Connor Sin-Chan, a Student Assistant from Teaching and Learning Services here at McGill. We discuss the 3 Minute Thesis, a program run by TLS that is currently in its 12th season at McGill. 3MT is an internationally recognized competition for grad students, who present their research and its wider implications - all under 3 minutes!     Montreal International Poetry Prize

    In this episode of Arts After Hours, Communications Assistant Chantay Alexander interviews Lizzie Schulz, Social Media Intern from the Montreal International Poetry Prize. The Poetry Prize helps affirm the value of poetry on an international scale, with a $20,000 crowd-funded prize awarded to the author of the winning poem.     McMUN

    In this episode of Arts After Hours, Communications Assistant Chantay Alexander interviews Jane Weber, the Secretary General for McMUN 2023. McMUN is a Model United Nations conference hosted by McGill, and offers students the opportunity to engage in lively political discourse, as they take on the role of delegates from various countries within the UN. We discussed the interdisciplinary skills students develop when participating in these conferences, as well as Jane's personal experiences in her Model United Nations career.     Fashion Revolution McGill

    Arts After Hours rings in the New Year with an episode on fashion sustainability on campus. Communications Assistant Chantay Alexander sat down with three executive members of Fashion Revolution McGill, Mai Ito, Ines Zakoian, and Shani Laskin, to discuss their experience advocating for more mindful consumption at McGill. Fashion Revolution McGill is a new club that aims to promote accountability within the fashion industry, not only for individuals, but on a global scale as well. The club is McGill's local division of the global non-profit initiative, Fashion Revolution. Medical Herstory is an organization that promotes accessibility and knowledge within the medical field, focusing on gender health equity.     Creative Writing Workshop

    In this episode of Arts After Hours, Communications Assistant Chantay Alexander interviews Nawaal Bhuyian, founder of the Department of English Student Association's Creative Writing Workshop, and Owen Tragash, a student who has been attending the workshop for the past few months. The Creative Writing Workshop helps students develop their creative thought processes and fine tune students' writing skills. The workshop is open to students in any department and faculty.
