    Plated Prisoner Series Recap

Two friends eating and drinking their way through Goldfinch–Book 6 of the Plated Prisoner series by Raven Kennedy!   SPOILERS FOR THE SERIES Recipes for food and cocktails mentioned in this episode: Mini Honey Cakes (aka Little Suns of Freedom) Ingredients: 1 cup all-purpose flour ½ cup sugar ½ tsp baking powder ¼ tsp baking soda ¼ tsp salt 1 large egg ¼ cup melted butter (or oil if you want them extra soft) ¼ cup honey ½ cup milk (or buttermilk for an extra tender crumb) 1 tsp vanilla Optional: ½ tsp cinnamon or a pinch of nutmeg Glaze: 2 tbsp honey 1 tbsp lemon juice ½ cup powdered sugar (You can thin or thicken this as needed.)   Instructions: Heat your oven to 350°F. Line a mini muffin pan or grease it like you’re trying not to get stuck in the cage again. In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and optional spices. In another bowl, whisk egg, melted butter, honey, milk, and vanilla. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry. Stir gently until just combined. The batter should look like it’s trying to be smooth but hasn’t fully committed. Scoop into your muffin tin, filling each about ¾ full. Bake 10–12 minutes until the tops are lightly golden and springy. While they cool, whisk together your glaze. Dip the tops of the warm cakes into the glaze or drizzle it over them so it runs down like liquid gold.Optional DramaticFlair: Add a tiny bit of edible gold dust to the glaze. Top each cake with a thin twist of candied lemon peel. Or place a single blueberry on top like a jewel from Auren’s private stash. These little cakes travel well, look adorable on a table, and taste like honeyed joy. Perfect for a grand finale that feels sweet, triumphant, and just a tad dangerous if eatenby the dozen.   Wine/Cocktail Pairing: Dreaming Tree Sauvignon Blanc This wine is bright, crisp, and refreshing… which is more than we can say for the trauma Raven Kennedy put us through for five books. But the name? Dreaming Tree? Yeah, that’s basically Auren in her final form: rooted, powerful, no longer contained, and finally dreaming for herself rather than surviving someone else’s nightmare. The Sauvignon Blanc itself has those clean citrus and herbal notes that feel like a deep breath after clawing your way out of a rot pit — light enough to lift the emotional weight of this series, but not so delicate that it disappears the second Slade walks on page like a magical green-eyed distraction. So grab your glass, raise it to Auren’s glitter-soaked resilience, and toast to the fact that we, too, survived The Plated Prisoner and came out on the other side… maybe not golden, but definitely feral and emotionally damaged in afun way.   Join our Corks and Cauldron Patreon to enjoy all our content:  patreon.com/CorksandCauldron Join our Discord: https://discord.gg/x3fWzfDhYz   Follow us on: Instagram: @corksandcauldronTikTok: @corks.and.cauldronYoutube: @corksandcauldronFacebook: @corksandcauldron  Email us your favorite Plated Prisoner theories orquestions: corksandcauldron@gmail.com   Listen to the Corks and Cauldron Podcast on your favoritepodcast platform: Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/05V5Phlkc2n0AdwSLdLRkt?si=3404ad78f0b94d69Amazon- https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/6376cc94-9ac8-407a-8e23-b40c0b8e2d8b/corks-and-cauldronApple- https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/corks-and-cauldron/id1790775715    Don't forget to send this podcast to your fellow fantasy/romantasy readers!

    Goldfinch Chapters 61-71

Two friends eating and drinking their way through Goldfinch–Book 6 of the Plated Prisoner series by Raven Kennedy!   SPOILERS FOR THE SERIES Recipes for food and cocktails mentioned in this episode: Lemon Olive Oil cake with a Lemon Curd filling   Ingredients: 3 eggs at room temperature1 cup granulated sugar 200 grams¾ cup extra virgin olive oil 180 mls plus extra for the cake pan. ⅔ cup whole milk finely grated zest of one lemon ¼ cup lemon juice 60 mls2 cups all-purpose flour 250 grams 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder½ teaspoon salt  Instructions: Preheat the oven to 350ºF/180ºC.Use a little olive oil to coat the inside of an 8-inch round cake pan with high sides. Line the base with paper.Whisk or sieve together flour, baking powder and salt. Using a handheld (or stand mixer) beat eggs and sugar in a large mixing bowl for 4 minutes on high speed until thick, light and creamy.Reduce the speed to medium and slowly drizzle in the extra virgin olive oil. Followed by milk, lemon juice and lemon zest. With the electric mixer on low speed, spoon in the flour mixture. Increase the speed to medium and beat for 30 seconds to 1 minute or until the mixture is smooth and lumpfree. Don't overbeat!Scrape in the prepared baking pan and bake for 40-45 minutes or until well risen, browned on top and the cake is coming away from the sides of the pan a little. You can insert a skewer into the cake, if it comes out free of batter, it’s ready. If the cake is becoming too dark, cover lightly with a sheet of foil.Remove from the oven and cool for 5 minutes in the pan before carefully turning out onto a wire rack to completely cool.Dust with powdered sugar to serve.  Wine/Cocktail Pairing: Skyfall For this last stretch of Goldfinch, we’re pairing it with Skyfall — because honestly? Everything in these chapters fell from the sky: the city, the land, the bridge, Auren, Ryatt’s sanity, and the entire plot. So we might as well drink something named after the disaster.   Join our Corks and Cauldron Patreon to enjoy all our content:  patreon.com/CorksandCauldron Join our Discord: https://discord.gg/x3fWzfDhYz   Follow us on: Instagram: @corksandcauldronTikTok: @corks.and.cauldronYoutube: @corksandcauldronFacebook: @corksandcauldron  Email us your favorite Plated Prisoner theories orquestions: corksandcauldron@gmail.com   Listen to the Corks and Cauldron Podcast on your favoritepodcast platform: Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/05V5Phlkc2n0AdwSLdLRkt?si=3404ad78f0b94d69Amazon- https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/6376cc94-9ac8-407a-8e23-b40c0b8e2d8b/corks-and-cauldronApple- https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/corks-and-cauldron/id1790775715    Don't forget to send this podcast to your fellowfantasy/romantasy readers!

Spoon the corn flakes evenly over the potatoes. Bake uncovered for 35 minutes. Cool 5 minutes before serving.     Wine/Cocktail Pairing: Heroes Alright, tonight I’m pouring Heroes from Miletta Vista Winery — a sweet-fruit-forward Nebraska local. On the nose you’ll find berries, strawberry, kiwi, and even a hint of passion fruit.  It’s almost relaxing in its sweetness — but tonight, we’re pairing that fruitiness with fury, grief, and devotion. So raise your glass: to the dragon kings and the fallen queens, to broken bonds and unbreakable love. Pour it slow, sip it steady — because some endings deserve a hero’s wine Join our Corks and Cauldron Patreon to enjoy all our content:  patreon.com/CorksandCauldron Join our Discord: https://discord.gg/x3fWzfDhYz   Follow us on: Instagram: @corksandcauldronTikTok: @corks.and.cauldronYoutube: @corksandcauldronFacebook: @corksandcauldron  Email us your favorite Plated Prisoner theories orquestions: corksandcauldron@gmail.com   Listen to the Corks and Cauldron Podcast on your favoritepodcast platform: Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/05V5Phlkc2n0AdwSLdLRkt?si=3404ad78f0b94d69Amazon- https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/6376cc94-9ac8-407a-8e23-b40c0b8e2d8b/corks-and-cauldronApple- https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/corks-and-cauldron/id1790775715    Don't forget to send this podcast to your fellowfantasy/romantasy readers!

    Goldfinch Chapters 40-50

Two friends eating and drinking their way through Goldfinch–Book 6 of the Plated Prisoner series by Raven Kennedy!   SPOILERS FOR THE SERIES Recipes for food and cocktails mentioned in this episode: Savory Apple Brunch Bake-Bisquick   Ingredients: 1 lb bacon2 apples, chopped (I used a pink lady and a granny smith)2 tbsp sugar1 tsp (or whatever your heart tells you) cinnamon or apple pie spice1 ½ cups bisquick1 ½ cups milk4 (yes 4) eggs2 cups shredded cheese, I use cheddar  Instructions: Step 1 Heat oven to 375°F. Grease rectangular baking dish, 11X7. Cook bacon in 12-inch skillet over medium heat, turning occasionally, until crisp; drain on paper towels and cool.Crumble bacon into small pieces. Step 2 Mix apple, cinnamon and sugar; spread in a baking dish. Stir the Bisquick, milk and eggs until blended; pour over the apple. Sprinkle it with bacon and cheese. Step 3 Bake uncovered 30 to 35 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.     Wine/Cocktail Pairing: Black Cloud So tonight, I brought Black Cloud. Because honestly, this chapter was one. We went from golden goddess energy to free-falling through chaos in about three pages flat. This wine is dark, moody, and just a little spicy — kind of like Slade when someone threatens Auren. It’s smooth at first sip but leavesthat lingering storm vibe behind… which feels exactly right for the ending we just got. Sprinkle the Oreo crumbs over the top of the pie.Top the pie with some of the gummy worms.Place the pie in the fridge for 1 hour to set.   Wine/Cocktail Pairing: Fugitive, The This wine’s got a bold, brooding energy — rich red with just enough edge to taste like danger and devotion all in one sip. It’s the kind of bottle that makes you feel like you’re committing a crime just opening it, which, coincidentally, isalso how Slade moves through most of his life. This is the kind of wine you sip slowly while muttering “burn it all down” under your breath. It’s defiant, it’s darkly romantic, and it lingers like a secret you shouldn’t have told. So raise your glass — to the lovers the world keeps chasing, to the truth that refuses to die, and to the moment they both stop running.
