    Naikan is a Japanese practice of structured self-reflection. Developed in the 1940s by Ishin Yoshimoto, it offers a simple method for seeing your relationships more clearly, not through analysis or therapy, but through three concrete questions. In this episode, Sarah introduces Naikan, its origins, and the practice at its heart: What have I received from this person? What have I given to this person? What trouble or difficulty have I caused this person? The first two questions tend to feel manageable. The third is where something shifts. This episode stays with that shift, exploring what honest self-reflection actually looks like when it moves beyond self-compassion into genuine accountability, and why that distinction matters.
