The Nun of Monza, Part 1
For plenty of young women in the early modern era, if their families couldn't afford their dowries, they simply shipped them off to a nunnery. Customer Reviews
History as told by an expert
Dana, you are an incredible historian. The topics you cover are always interesting and varied.
I want to commend you for your approach to controversies around the topics you cover. You present all perspectives around the topic and your own opinion on the subject is always well reasoned and you don’t force your perspective on the listener.
I also want to say that your voice always soothes and calms me.
Lastly I was listening to the koh-I- Noor episode today and was wondering if you would cover the other controversial diamonds in the collection - the cullinan diamonds?
I am from South Africa and would love to hear your take on the story of the cullinan diamonds.
The Red Paint on Leopold II
I have heard the story of King Leopold, but the statues only being removed now? Shocking. I live in South Africa and I have not even heard this news. I know the podcast name is Noble Blood, but I would be interested to hear your take on Cecil John Rhodes and how he influenced Southern Africa.
The vandalising and or removing of statues of prominent historical figures is a very interesting topic as well as the “good” they are being praised for, for “bringing civilisation to Africa” against the the atrocities they inflicted. Should we remember or forget?
Nothing Like “Noble Blood”
Dana Schwartz and Grim & Mild (Aaron Mahnke “Lore”) have created one of the best podcasts I have ever listened to. I am obsessed with this show. Dana, your voice is a regal reminder of why audio narratives are even more important than they were pre-COVID. The soothing eloquence of Dana’s whisper-breath voice makes for a chill-inducing experience.
Brava!
