Season 2, E5: Australia, let’s have a conversation about the Voice referendum

The upcoming Voice to Parliament Referendum is fast approaching and it’s time to get conversations flowing. Identifying a gap in public knowledge surrounding the upcoming vote, Global Shapers wanted to spread awareness of the campaign in a non-partisan way, for those who seek further understanding. As Global Shapers we meet and collaborate on Kaurna Land everyday. We are privileged and proud to call this land our home and pay our respects to its traditional custodians who have cared and nurtured this shared ground for generations.  The upcoming referendum is a big turning point in our country’s history. We are lucky to live in such a democracy where we have a voice, so let’s use it to make an informed vote. In this episode we tackle the questions everyone seeks answers to as we embark on a journey towards the polling booths in October.  Our knowledgeable guests Zara Cox, Alan Abraham and Harper Robb are all Adelaide University Law students dedicating time to the cause of education surrounding the vote. They share insightful yet vital information and encourage everyone to follow the links below to learn more.  Notes — Heart to Heart instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hearttoheart_campaign/ Heart to Heart podcast: https://spotify.link/3430MnIHnDb https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/the-heart-to-heart-podcast/id1701922170 Uluru Statement website: https://ulurustatement.org/

Season 2, E2: Food Waste - the Unsung Hero of the Circular Economy

When it comes to the circular economy, there is no greater system than Food Waste and organics composting. By turning one man’s stinky trash into the state’s fertiliser treasure, we can ALL contribute to SDG target 12.3* - halve food waste by 2030 and give our local produce and wine the nutrients they need without synthetic chemicals. Green Industries South Australia is world-leading in many circular economy and waste initiatives, with the latest being Australia’s first public place trial for organic waste bins in Rundle Mall.  In this episode we hear from Amelia Chaplin, Project Officer from Green Industries SA, who gives climate-conscious South Australians easy ways to save the planet, inspires our international guests to learn from our sustainable systems, and encourages young people to get into purpose driven jobs that they’re passionate about. This episode was hosted by Ellie Stephenson and Madison O'brien. How can you contribute: -Check out http://whichbin.sa.gov.au/ to learn more about what can and can’t go in your green waste bin,  -Contact your local council to make sure you have a FREE Kitchen Caddy and compostable bin liners to divert your precious food waste from landfill, -Make sure you put your organic waste in the green bin - especially if you are in Rundle Mall! -Post a picture to your socials doing any of the above, and tag @globalshapers.adelaide  *The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are a collection of seventeen interlinked objectives designed to serve as a "shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future".
