630 | Jess Evans - Two physiological births, pregnancy after loss, fast vaginal birth, amenorrhea

In this episode I chat with Jess Evans, a mother of two from Melbourne who has spent eight years working with baby brand ErgoPouch. Jess takes us through the misdiagnosis that delayed her first pregnancy, a joyful and completely intervention free vaginal birth with her son Hunter, and then the devastating loss she experienced when trying for a second baby, not long after her husband Craig was diagnosed with testicular cancer. She talks candidly about grief, pregnancy after loss anxiety, and finally, the whirlwind two hour vaginal birth of her second son August. This episode is honest, moving and full of practical wisdom for anyone who has faced a bump in the road on their way to becoming a parent. Today's episode is brought to you by ergoPouch, the brand behind some of my favourite sleepwear for baby, infant, toddler and beyond.ergoPouch is a premium Australian sleepwear brand using certified organic cotton and natural fibres to create TOG-rated sleep solutions from newborn to six years. I love their TOG rating system; it takes the guesswork out of dressing bub for sleep, so you always know they're at the right temperature no matter the season. Our friends at ergoPouch are gifting you $15 off your first order; just head to ErgoPouch and sign up before their new season drops to grab your code.Keep an eye out too, because their new Nursery Rhymes collection launches August 27th, just in time for spring and summer babies. She Shouldn't Have to Give Away Her Calling!

🎙️ EP 345 She Shouldn't Have to Give Away Her Calling! BECOMING UNSHAKABLE: MOMS SUPPORTING MOMS (Solo episode w/ Ildiko Ferenczi)   ENTREPRENEUR PARENTS PODCAST Hosted by Dan Caldwell and Ildiko Ferenczi     We say we want mothers to succeed but do we respect their work enough to pay them fairly? In this powerful episode of the Entrepreneur Parents Podcast, Ildiko Ferenczi continues the Becoming Unshakable: Moms Supporting Moms series with an honest conversation about the "mom discount," unpaid labor, free exposure, and the hidden cost of asking a mother to lower the value of her work. Behind many mother-owned businesses is not a large team, a marketing department, or an investor absorbing the losses. It is often a mother creating during nap time, answering messages after bedtime, packaging orders at the kitchen table, and trying to build something meaningful while raising her family. Yet people who willingly pay full price to large corporations will sometimes ask a friend, neighbor, or fellow mother for a discount, free advice, complimentary products, or additional work at no charge. When a large company offers a discount, the company may absorb the loss. When a struggling mother lowers her price, she may absorb it personally and that cost can come directly out of her family, business, or ability to keep building. This conversation is about learning to recognize the value of a mother's work and understanding that kindness should never require her to become economically invisible.     🌱 IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL DISCOVER Why familiarity can cause us to undervalue people we personally know, the invisible labor behind many mom-owned businesses, why women often struggle to charge what their work is worth, the difference between freely chosen generosity and pressured free labor, why "exposure" is not always fair compensation, and how healthy pricing boundaries can protect both a business and a family. Ildiko also explores how you can support a mother when you cannot afford to purchase from her. Sharing her business, recommending her to the right person, leaving a thoughtful review, commenting on her work, sending her page to a potential customer, or simply speaking her name in a room filled with opportunity can create meaningful movement. You do not have to purchase everything a mother creates to support her. But if her work has helped you, let it travel through you.     📖 BIBLE MOMENT 1 Timothy 5:18 reminds us: "The worker deserves his wages." God calls us to generosity, but He also calls us to justice. Respecting a mother's price is one way of honoring the dignity of her labor. A woman should not have to become exhausted, underpaid, or resentful before her work is considered loving.     💭 QUESTIONS TO REFLECT ON Do I treat a mother's work with the same respect I give a large company? Have I benefited from another woman's knowledge without acknowledging her? Have I expected free advice simply because I know the person providing it? Have I asked someone to lower her price without considering what that reduction may cost her family? And if you are the mother building something: Where have you been lowering your value because you are afraid of disappointing people? Where do you need a clearer boundary? Are you giving from genuine generosity or from fear, pressure, or guilt?     👑 THIS WEEK'S LEGACY MOVE Honor the work of one mother. If you genuinely need what she offers and can afford it, pay her price without making her defend it. If you cannot purchase today, help her work reach someone who can. Share the episode. Write the review. Send the page. Leave the meaningful comment. Make the introduction. Speak her name in the right room. Support does not have to be expensive but it should be intentional.     ❤️ FINAL ENCOURAGEMENT If you are a mother quietly building something right now, you do not have to apologize for wanting your work to become sustainable. Your calling does not become less meaningful because you charge for it. Your generosity does not require you to give everything away. And your motherhood does not make your work less professional or less valuable. You are allowed to build something that serves people and supports your family. And for the rest of us, when we recognize a mother creating something honest, useful, and worthy, let's stop waiting for everyone else to validate it. Don't ask her for the mom discount. Help her work move forward. Faith. Family. Purpose. 631 | Hannah - three births, induced vaginal birth, private to public maternity care, Darwin

In this episode I chat to Hannah, a mum of three living in Darwin with her husband Joff and their boys Atlas, Abel and Solomon. Hannah takes us through three very different birth stories, starting with an induced hospital birth in Melbourne during lockdown, through to a calmer second labour in Darwin, and finally a fast third birth that unfolded just as Darwin's private maternity hospital closed its doors. She speaks openly about episiotomy recovery, breastfeeding, an early pregnancy loss and what it felt like to be moved into an already stretched public system. It's a warm, honest conversation and a good reminder of just how much maternity choice matters. Today’s episode is brought to you by Nutra Naturals. Made from Australian grass-fed beef and pasture-raised chicken bones, Nutra Naturals’ award-winning bone broths are slowly cooked and concentrated into either a rich paste or convenient powder. So you get the rich flavour and naturally occurring collagen protein you’d expect from a traditional homemade bone broth – without spending hours in the kitchen. Use the code AUSBIRTHSTORIES at checkout to get 20% off. "You’re So Much Stronger Than You Think": One Family's Double Battle with Childhood Cancer

This week on Happy Mum, we are joined by strong, inspiring and incredible mother of two Sophie Derry. When Sophie's daughter Odette started vomiting on car journeys and having headaches, doctors initially put it down to travel sickness. An eye test changed everything, revealing a brain tumour that would lead to emergency surgery and fifteen further operations over seven months. Before the family could catch their breath, Sophie's younger daughter Eliza was diagnosed with leukaemia. Sophie opens up to Gi about what it's like to face childhood cancer not once but twice -- the fear, the exhaustion, and the moments of hope.
