Build or Break

Daniel Lubetzky

Daniel Lubetzky — KIND Snacks founder, Shark Tank investor, Mexican Jewish social entrepreneur — sits down with the world's most fearless builders to uncover what it takes to create, innovate, and build things when others would have broken. Our guests are founders, comedians, scientists, athletes, actors, and public figures. No matter what field they come from - business, sports, entertainment, media, politics, or culture - they all face the same fork in the road. Daniel pushes past what they built to why they were willing to risk it, and how they kept going when it started to break. Real conversations about entrepreneurship, leadership, resilience, and the decisions that define a builder.

Andrew Yang Explains Why 94% of Congress Never Loses Reelection

Andrew Yang was right about the 2024 election. He was right about AI. He was right about MATH. When he talks, you better pay attention! I sat down with Andrew Yang for a wide-ranging conversation that moves from personal to political and back again — getting bullied as the only Asian kid in his school, quitting a prestigious law firm five months in, and building the "Yang Gang" from a fringe campaign into a national movement built on a $3 million baseball cap. Andrew opens up about the hardest year of his life — becoming a father to a son later diagnosed as on the autism spectrum — and connects it directly to why he ran for president. He breaks down why 94% of Congress never loses reelection despite a 10% approval rating, why he quit the Democratic Party in 2021, and why investors will fund almost anything as long as it has "AI" in the name. Along the way: the real story behind "MATH," his viral Cupid Shuffle moment, and a live demonstration of my favorite party trick/pain tolerance tester I brought over from Mexico! Andrew is funny, blunt, and still relentlessly early on the things everyone else eventually catches up to. Chris Paul on the Clippers: "One of the Most Disrespectful Things I've Endured"

Chris Paul opens up about the night his grandfather was murdered — and the 61-point game he played right after that could have broken Michael Jordan's state scoring record. CP3 sits down with me for a conversation that goes past the highlight reel — the jump ball trick he used for 20 years that referees never called, the night in 2005 he learned his grandfather had been beaten to death, and his next game where he scored 61 points and then deliberately threw the ball out of bounds, just shy of a state record. Chris talked with me about the Clippers exit he calls "one of the most disrespectful things I've endured," why he turned down a third Olympics to be with his family, the five hand surgeries and 16 screws that came with 21 years in the league, and building his snack brand Good Eat’n the same way he built a Hall of Fame career: one rep at a time. Kendra Scott's 1st Business Failed. Her 2nd Became a Billion Dollar Company.

Kendra Scott started her first company to give hats to cancer patients. It failed. With $500, a spare bedroom, and a newborn baby, she started again, and this time built one of the most recognizable brands in America. Kendra Scott sits down with me for a wide-ranging, funny, and unexpectedly emotional conversation — from getting bullied so badly in middle school she ate lunch in a bathroom stall, to the stepfather whose battle with brain cancer inspired her first (failed) business, to the ten years she spent unable to get a single investor to write her a check. Kendra opens up about building Kendra Scott out of a spare bedroom with a newborn on her hip, why she named the company after herself almost by accident, the "worst boss" who taught her the most, and what it's really like behind the scenes as the newest full-time Shark on Shark Tank. She also talks candidly about launching her second brand, Yellow Rose, why she'll never franchise, and the advisor-turned-first-investor she lost far too soon. Kevin O'Leary: America Loses to China if We Regulate AI

Kevin O'Leary opens up about the $12.9M card he wore to the Oscars, what he did that almost ended his engagement, and the moment his stepfather told him he'd never make it. Before Shark Tank, before "Mr. Wonderful," Kevin O'Leary was a kid getting told by his stepfather that he wasn't good enough to be a photographer. In this episode of Build or Break, Kevin sits down with Daniel Lubetzky for a conversation that goes far past the TV persona — the $12.9M sports card he bought on a hunch (and turned down $21M for), the night he had to tell his fiancée he cheated, firing his best friend in the early days of his first company, and the "signal vs. noise" framework he learned from Steve Jobs that still runs his entire day. You’ve never seen Mr. Wonderful like this. I’VE never seen him like this. This is Kevin without the edit — brutal honesty about business, marriage, grief, and the stepfather he says made him who he is. Chris Paul, Steven Bartlett, and More: The Moment That Almost Broke Them - Build or Break

Chris Paul. Steven Bartlett. The moment before everything almost fell apart. I'm Daniel Lubetzky — founder of KIND Snacks, a Shark Tank investor, and a "confused Mexican Jewish social entrepreneur." I started KIND with one bar and a hundred rejections. Now I'm building the most ambitious project of my life: a podcast about what it actually takes to build something — and the moments almost nobody talks about, when it nearly broke you instead. This is Build or Break. In this series, you’ll see Chris Paul reveal the moment he went into shock. Steven Bartlett, host of Diary of a CEO, open up about his early struggles. Kevin O'Leary on his greatest personal trial. Andrew Yang on living up to the expectations of immigrant parents. Plus Mark Cuban, Kendra Scott, Fareed Zakaria, Jason Alexander, Lucy Aharish, Robert Rodriguez, Jamie Siminoff, Ben Sasse, and Melva Wallace — builders, investors, and leaders who've all faced the same decision: build, or break? https://www.instagram.com/DanielLubetzky https://www.tiktok.com/@daniellubetzky https://x.com/DanielLubetzky https://www.linkedin.com/in/daniellubetzky https://daniellubetzky.com/ Music: Amos Cochran https://www.editscoremusic.com/ Production: Straybird Studios https://www.straybird.studio/ Post Production: Jennell Lewis & Scott Convery Social Media Production: https://www.edits-etc.com/ Build or Break Team:  Executive Producer & Host: Daniel Lubetzky Executive Producer: Kristin Schneider Head of Programming & Production: Joel Rubin Marketing & Communications: Sarah Black Associate Producer & Social Media: Taylor Larned Booking & Scheduling: Kayla Rose Network Relations: Julianna Cohen
