Ep 55: Midlife in the Lifestyle: Freedom, Urgency, and Identity

As we get older, our bodies, our priorities, and even the way we experience the lifestyle begin to shift. In this episode, all four hosts are back at the table to talk honestly about aging, self-image, and how time changes our perspective on play, connection, and identity. Brad and Josie — both in their 50s — share what it feels like to realize they’re past the halfway point in life, while Brittany reflects on approaching that milestone, and Zack talks about only recently turning 40. Together, we ask: Is 50 really a turning point? When do you start to feel your mortality… or your freedom? And is the lifestyle a young person’s game, or does age bring its own kind of power? We explore body confidence, the “I don’t give a f***” stage of life, the pressure some of us feel to “live bigger now” while we still can, and whether urgency, opportunity, and time shape our choices. We also talk about the strengths that come with age — experience, perspective, emotional maturity, and success — and how those benefits can sometimes feel at odds with the expectations of the lifestyle. Of course, we keep it real with plenty of humor too… including joking about when we finally get to “give up,” skip the gym, eat whatever we want, and go off the rails. 😉 We wrap with a reminder that pleasure, connection, and adventure don’t expire — and that the lifestyle can be meaningful, fun, and fulfilling at any age. "WHO SAID THAT" 2025 YEAR IN REVIEW

It’s time to look back… and immediately ask ourselves, “Wait—who said that?!” In Part 1 of this two-part recap episode, Kiki and Medinah revisit some of the wildest, funniest, most unhinged moments from 2025 (with a few older classics sprinkled in), reacting to past clips in real time and reliving everything from comedian guests and dating rants to weird sex stories, hair debates, pop culture takes, and those signature CockTales side quests that somehow always lead back to food. This episode is pure commentary chaos: – Comedians we loved (and clips that still hold up… mostly) – Dating opinions that aged interestingly – Hair, weaves, man-weaves, and why honesty matters – Weird sex facts that somehow turn into social commentary – Pop culture deep dives (yes, including Game of Thrones) – Rants that start one place and end somewhere completely different Think of this as a highlight reel with commentary, context, and a little “wow… we really said that” energy. And don’t worry — this is just Part 1. There’s plenty more where this came from. 🎧 Listen, laugh, argue with us in your head, and let us know in the comments which clips took you OUT. 🍸 Today’s Cocktail: The Velvet Revolution Smooth, cozy, and perfect for a recap episode. Ingredients 1.5 oz Baileys 1 oz vanilla vodka or dark rum 1 oz cold brew coffee or espresso (optional, but highly encouraged) Ice Nutmeg or cinnamon (for garnish) How to Make It Add Baileys, vodka or rum, and cold brew to a shaker filled with ice. Shake well until chilled and silky. Strain into a coupe or rocks glass. Sprinkle nutmeg or cinnamon on top and enjoy. Cheers to closing out 2025 and easing into 2026 — raspy voices, hot takes, and all. 🥂 Visit vb.health and use code COCKTALES for 10% off  Interested in being a guest?  Please contact addie@cocktalespod.com and include your information, what makes you an interesting guest, and any relavant links! From Friendship To Forever (Guests: Kenneth & Tasha Cobbs Leonard)

In this powerful and transparent episode of Dear Future Wifey, Laterras Whitfield and Ashley sit down with Kenneth & Tasha Cobbs Leonard for a conversation that feels less like a podcast and more like a full-blown marriage seminar. Kenneth and Tasha open up about how friendship became the foundation of their forever, while also diving into real-time cultural and kingdom conversations. Tasha passionately defends Dr. Karri Bryant, shares her heart behind conversations on modesty, and brings wisdom with both grace and clarity. The couple also discusses: 1. How they manage and build their businesses together 2. The “why” behind their healthy lifestyle transformation 3. The vision and heart behind their church, The Purpose Place 4. What it really takes to steward marriage, health, faith, and purpose at the same time By the end of the episode, Laterras and Ashley admit it felt like they’d just attended a marriage seminar — full of practical gems, spiritual insight, and real-life wisdom every couple (and future couple) needs. Whether you’re married, preparing for marriage, or simply believing God for healthy love, this episode will challenge and encourage you. 👉 LIKE, COMMENT, & SUBSCRIBE for more faith-filled relationship conversations. 🎧 Available on all podcast platforms. Rose McGowan “Hollywood Was Worse Than The Cult I Escaped”

After being shut out of Hollywood, Rose McGowan explains how she was forced to step away - and slowly rebuild her life on her own terms. Rose speaks openly about her experiences in Hollywood, the cost of refusing to stay silent, and how leaving the industry became part of reclaiming her creativity, identity and sense of self. Rose was one of the first to go public with claims of sexual assault against Harvey Weinstein, and she explains how she was allegedly raped by the movie producer at the age of 23 - and what it cost her to speak out. She reflects on the severe personal and professional consequences that followed. Content warning: this conversation includes discussion of sexual assault. From being raised in a cult in Italy to navigating Hollywood, she reflects on how early experiences shaped her instincts around control, belonging and survival. She also speaks about what came after: the unexpected support she found through fans and Comic-Con, stepping away from the US to recover in Mexico, reconnecting with creativity through music, and why reclaiming her real name - Rosa - feels like coming home. She shares: ◽ What it was like growing up inside The Children of God ◽ Being alone at 13 and realising no one was looking for her ◽ Why speaking out about Harvey Weinstein meant career death ◽ What was really happening behind the scenes on Charmed ◽ The truth behind the VMA dress and what people misunderstood ◽ Nearly losing her life, leaving the US and starting again ◽ How fans, creativity and music helped bring her back to herself Rose McGowan, We Need To Talk Support charities: Survivor’s Trust: https://g2ul0.app.link/HOj44LvWZUb CALM: https://g2ul0.app.link/uULaUXcM3Nb  MIND: https://g2ul0.app.link/gbuRaxjM3Nb  Follow me here: https://www.instagram.com/needtotalk  https://www.tiktok.com/@weneedtotalkpod Support Rose here:Website: https://www.rosemcg.com/ Instagram: www.instagram.com/rosemcgowan/  (00:00) Intro (02:23) How Does Rose Identify? • How to Discern a Safe and Godly Man

    03/11/2025

    9

How to Discern a Safe and Godly Man

How to Discern a Safe and Godly Man What does a safe and godly man truly look like? And how can you tell the difference between surface-level change and deep, lasting heart transformation? In this powerful episode, Leslie sits down with Michael and Kristen Cary, founders of Living Truth and creators of Men in the Battle and Women in the Battle. Together, they unpack the hard but healing truth about what real repentance looks like in a man, how to spot red flags—even when he seems "nice"—and why women need to do their own healing work, whether or not their partner is changing. With raw honesty and biblical wisdom, this conversation offers practical tools to help women discern character, build clarity, and courageously walk toward truth and safety. Key Takeaways True Repentance Goes Beyond Behavior Management Real heart change isn’t just about stopping bad behavior—it’s about digging deep to understand the “why” beneath it. Men who are truly repentant aren’t just trying to avoid consequences; they’re broken over the pain they’ve caused, open to feedback, and willing to do the long, hard work of healing. Women Must Heal, Too Betrayal trauma doesn’t just disappear with his sobriety. Even if the sexual sin wasn’t yours, the pain and damage are real. Healing requires tending to your own wounds, setting boundaries, and stepping into the work of becoming whole again—regardless of what he chooses to do. Believe the Behavior, Not the Words Change is seen in fruit, not phrases. Many men can talk the talk—especially in Christian circles—but safety is shown through consistent actions: humility, accountability, respect for boundaries, and emotional maturity. If he gets defensive, blames, or minimizes your pain, those are red flags—not repentance. When “Nice” Isn’t Safe Just because he’s nice doesn’t mean he’s safe. Safety means he can hear your truth without punishing you. He respects your "no," honors your boundaries, and doesn’t manipulate with guilt, fear, or Scripture. A man who is truly safe will prioritize your emotional and spiritual well-being—not just try to keep the peace. The Pain Must Be His Teacher—Not Yours Sometimes the only thing that wakes someone up is the pain of consequences. Staying “nice” to avoid upsetting him often prevents the very growth that’s needed. Love does not mean enabling sin. Godly sorrow leads to repentance—not just sorrow over being caught. If You're Struggling to Discern the Truth… If you’re unsure whether your marriage is just difficult, chronically disappointing, or truly destructive, don’t stay stuck in confusion. Leslie has created a free Quick Start Guide to help you gain clarity, take your next right step, and begin walking in truth. Download your guide here: www.leslievernick.com/guide To connect with Michael and Kristen Cary and explore their healing programs for men and women: Visit: www.living-truth.org Dear Friend, God is not asking you to sacrifice your safety, sanity, or soul to save a marriage that is wounding you. He calls us to walk in truth, not denial—to speak up, not shrink back. Even if he never changes, you can. You are not alone, and you are not powerless. With God’s help, you can move forward in wisdom, clarity, and courage—one brave step at a time.
