How Steven Adams Accidentally Became The NBA's Most Beloved Star (Exclusive)

In the most personal interview of his career, New Zealand's most beloved NBA export Steven Adams sits down with Between Two Beers exclusively to tell his full story. From growing up the youngest of 14 in Rotorua, losing his father at 13, and never dreaming of the NBA - to rookie years alongside Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden at the Oklahoma City Thunder, the infamous Draymond Green kicks in the 2016 Golden State Warriors playoffs, and signing a new Houston Rockets contract at 32 after a serious PCL injury, this is the complete Steven Adams story. Steven opens up about going viral for sleeping on an air mattress despite earning millions, training with Dame Valerie Adams, speaking at MIT's Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, owning a regenerative dairy farm near Pukahina, investing in Auckland FC, and a six-year journalling practice that got him through his darkest moments. Plus - 24 free basketball camps across New Zealand for 10,000 kids, and why giving back is the only thing that truly matters to him. Steve and Seamus are proud to be dressed by Barkers Clothing. Strangers to coworkers to friends to...sisters?

Cassandra Madison and Julia Tinetti met working at the same bar in their 20s and were struck by how similar they looked. Their adoption records didn't match, but a surprise gift later revealed the extraordinary truth. From the moment they started chatting, Cassandra and Julia quickly realised they had lots in common: both had been adopted as babies, both grew up in Connecticut, and both had tattoos of the Dominican Republic flag. Their physical resemblance and connection was so strong that coworkers and customers joked they must be related, especially as they regularly mistook one for the other. Cassandra and Julia embraced the idea, even referring to themselves as sisters. They went so far as to compare adoption papers – but when the details didn’t match, the whole matter was put to bed. Years later, when Cassandra received a genetic test as a Christmas gift, she ended up finding her birth family. In the process, long-held secrets emerged and revelations which pointed back, unexpectedly, to Julia. We Block, Rebuild and Move On ✨

Neighbours, welcome back for what’s been an absolute mental week. Following the massive response to Holly’s recent split, the girls are leaning right into their "single era" and the tightening of the community. They kick things off by chatting about why the "big block" is a non-negotiable move to protect your peace from burner accounts and toxic vibes. It’s more than just hitting a button, it’s a proper bonding session for everyone who’s had to choose themselves and move on. To celebrate this fresh start, the girls have a high-stakes Rom-Com Draft, arguing over the best 90s and Y2K classics. Everything from 10 Things I Hate About You to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. The games keep rolling with a round of "Build-a-Boy," where they try to put together the perfect partner based on looks, work, values, hobbie and personal qualities. However, they quickly realise that even a fit, 6'4" bloke with family values is a total deal-breaker if he’s got a squeaky high-pitched voice or a dodgy habit of snaking your waves in the surf. Things get properly hectic during the "After Dark" segment, as the girls go through a stack of neighbour confessions. We’re talking petty revenge involving golf balls in exhaust pipes, and a first-sleepover horror story that involves a tragic dog seizure and a frantic bathroom retrieval. No topic is off-limits here. Amidst the chaos, the girls reckon there are some solid ways to heal, from "unbroken writing" journals to just getting up and dancing. It’s a timely reminder to stop wasting time on "dirty dogs" and start backing yourself. Don't forget to like, subscribe, and share with your neighbours!

Grief and Learning to Love Yourself After Divorce with Singer Katie Noonan

When Katie Noonan’s 20-year marriage ended, it wasn’t a clean plot twist, it was the slow unravelling of the life she thought she’d be living forever: two boys, one family, a future she could name. In this episode of Love Stories, Katie chats with Deputy Editor Tiffany Dunk of The Australian Women's Weekly about her layered grief: losing her Dad, becoming suddenly single, and realising that the person you have to learn to love again is yourself. This isn’t a celebrity profile so much as an emotional recording of a songwriter who has gone through a lot of life. Katie goes back to the 90s - the disastrous eyebrows, the Gold Coast gigs, the share house full of actors - to find the younger self who started a band, fell in love and thought she’d cracked adulthood.  What happens when that version of the story collapses? Katie revisits the dark days she wasn’t sure she’d get through, how she's made mistakes along the way, and how music keeps dragging her back to the surface. Moments you’ll hear: Katie admits she sometimes bursts into tears just seeing a family with two young boys, because “that was my life, and it isn’t now." How she’s turning heartbreak into a new album: “There’s nowhere to hide, it’s just me and a piano” and why she released the most exposing song of her career even though it might be too much for her own kids to hear just yet. The quiet wisdom her mum offers as they grieve side‑by‑side: “Every day is a new day… just let yesterday be”; and how a Buddhist temple on the Sunshine Coast and tiny rituals of self‑care are helping them both keep going. Katie’s confession that she’s been “really hard” on herself, questioning her whole reality, and the small, almost boring word she’s learning to cling to: resilient. It’s a conversation about divorce, yes. But really it’s about what you build in the empty space afterward: a different kind of family, a different kind of faith, and a love story that starts awkwardly, imperfectly with yourself.  Thank you for listening ❤️  Before you leave...  🗣️ Get in touch   What did you think?
