A lot of potential, but falls short
The story of the disappearance of Olivia Hope and Ben Smart is one that has been deeply embedded into the psyche of kiwis. We’ve always asked why, where, how and most importantly who. Some 20 years later we are still asking those questions. Sadly, chasing ghosts does little to answer any of them. The production value is poor and the audio is badly mixed, meaning if you’re listening on headphones, you’ll only hear it out of one side. Carolyn Meng-Yee’s line of questioning was frustrating at times, and she also asked a lot of closed questions which didn’t prompt the interview subjects to elaborate on their point of views. The hosts also did not seem to have built any rapport with the interview subjects. The podcast aimed to examine the case from a different light, but it sadly came across as more of a Wikipedia entry read aloud with poor audio quality.
Well written.
Look forward to hearing more from this story, would like see more questions asked if those who were there that night. Some one must have heard something!
I was expecting something like the Bain murder podcast “black hands”, but got this instead.
Dreadful podcast, difficult to even listen to, no structure and little real information just informal interviews.
And what is with this woman’s ridiculous pronounciation of the word “controversy”?
