Here, in the twilight of the workday, they exchange eerie tales of programming glitches, security breaches, and asynchronous calls. Great commute listen, 5 well earned stars.

I’m a full stack dev from Melbourne, early in my second year of full time work. I was looking for something I could listen to that wasn’t pure technical information - more of a discussion of approaches and context around good software development.

Coding Blocks covers those bases and more. I started listening a few months ago, on the longish drive to my partner’s house after work, and by the time I get there, I’ve learned something that’ll help at work, unwound from the day, and we’ll generally end up chatting about some of the concepts together while we prep dinner. I enjoy the routine and always look forward to new episodes.

The Open Telemetry discussion was a recent favourite, and the conversation about how to respond to the interview question of: ‘how would you approach building an API’ really sticks in my mind - I wouldn’t have considered half the things that ended up coming up, but I will now. The conversation style is casual but considered, and easy to absorb. Highly recommend, check out an episode or two!

Also, they play a few rounds of a game show halfway through - not sure what that’s about ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also, if the hosts read this out on an upcoming episode, as a new listener I’d love a breakdown of what each of you think are your key differences in philosophies or approaches to software development. Could be from arguments or debates on older episodes, whether on coding, leadership, startups, AI, whatever - just curious about how best to tell everyone’s voices apart based on what they’re saying. I know one of you is Jay Z (JZ?), but slow to pick up on which host is which based on accents alone. Thanks, keep it up!

A Must-Listen for Any Programmer

I just wanted to say thank you to Allen, Michael, and Joe for the fantastic podcast. Their discussions on software design best practices and a range of programming languages are incredibly informative and helpful. In fact, the podcast has even inspired me to start my own video series. I highly recommend this podcast to other programmers. Keep up the great work! Here’s to the next 200 episodes!

Amazing show

Hey guys,

I am relatively new to coding and I’ve only discovered your show few months ago, but can’t get enough of this show - going back and listening to older shows.

Not only I learn bunch of new dev stuff, but also keeping myself entertained with Michael’s jokes being next level!

Keep up the good work.
