    It was highly requested so here it is: just the gist of the Kennedy family! A basic breakdown of how they came to the US from Ireland, how they became one the wealthiest and most powerful political families in America, and who a bunch of the notable family members (and connections) have been, and are, today. Since I've told a couple of 'Kennedy Family' themed episodes of Just The Gist, (gisten to The Chappaquiddick Incident here and JFK Jr. & Carolyn Bessette Kennedy here), quite a few Gistners asked me to strip it back even further and give just the gist of the general family history.     It's not news, it's NOOZ! Rosie Waterland gives just the gist of the week's most important nonsense. This week: Harper Beckham was photographed looking sad and ringing the bell at the front gate of older brother Brooklyn Beckham's mansion. When he didn't answer, she left a little note and turned around (towards the paparazzi) with tears in her eyes, before slowly walking back to her car with her head down like George Michael in Arrested Development. Is this the least subtle move the Beckham's have made so far? Yes. (Also why did David Beckham get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame?) Tyra Banks is suing Netflix and the producers of docuseries Reality Check: Inside America's Next Top Model, alleging defamation. She says she was interviewed for over three hours, in which she was totally, definitely accountable for all the terrible things she did, but in a deliberate attempt to make her look bad, Netflix only used 16 minutes of her interview. I'd bet a million dollars that Netflix will happily release that extra footage, and it will only make Tyra look worse. Someone tell this woman about The Barbra Streisand Effect IMMEDIATELY. I said in our last episode that if Gypsy-Rose Blanchard wants to keep any kind of public career, she needs to pivot away from this wannabe influencer stuff and go back to focussing on being an advocate and speaker on the issues she cares about. And WILL YOU LOOK AT THAT? I'm convinced a publicist has stepped in who had the exact instinct as me, because Gypsy has made a hard and successful pivot the last week back in that exact direction, with an interview on the We Need To Talk podcast, and a speaking gig at the highly resected Oxford Union Society. Stay tuned (or don't because you know I will). The Hollywood Reporter has launched in Australia, called, funnily enough, 'The Hollywood Reporter Australia'. But it turns out it's just a pretend vanity project by an influencer who wants to cosplay the magazine career she saw in early 2000s romcoms? Whatever is going on, this hilarious column by James Weir about the launch party had me CRYING laughing: 'James Weir's notes on 'Hollywood's' crash landing in Australia' HOT CHEF IS OVER RED ROVER. We followed it from the beginning. Katherine Wela Bogen, an up-and-coming romcom fiction writer, did the hardest of possible launches of her 'love at first sight with the most perfect man known as HOT CHEF' relationship. Declaring love within days, telling the world they were unequivocal soulmates, dismissing anyone who doubted the story. And now, just 9 months later, we are shocked to report that two people who said 'I love you' in less than a week didn't last the distance. I'm going to do a proper MINI on this (NEVER attempting to just clip out a Breakin' Nooz convo as a mini again!) Promise!) because there is actually a lot to it. But we have a brief little chat here. Reccos! Rosie: Yellowstone and 1883. This is what I deep-dived when I was attached to the toilet for 11 days and damn it - Taylor Sheridan knows how to make watchable TV. He's like the Shonda Rhimes of shows about horses and cattle ranches. Watch it on Paramount+ in Australia.     Just The Gist of… The Death of Mary Jo Kopechne, otherwise known as 'The Chappaquiddick Incident'

    Once both Senator Ted Kennedy's older brothers had been assassinated, he was widely expected to finish what JFK and Bobby had started by running for President in the next US election. Until, late one Friday night in 1969, Ted Kennedy got drunk at a party, crashed his car off a bridge, where it flipped mid-air and landed upside down in the pond below. Ted managed to swim free, but rather than calling for help or alerting authorities, he left his car submerged in the water and went back to his hotel to sleep it off. Still inside the car though, was Ted Kennedy's passenger: 28-year-old Mary Jo Kopechne. Mary Jo was alive for more than an hour, trapped in a tiny air pocket until she suffocated to death, waiting for help that never came. Ted Kennedy wasn't punished, and while he didn't end up President, he did go on to spend the next 40 years as one of the most respected and longest serving members of the US Senate.
