It was such a trip to hear real fans speaking very honestly about our life's work both positive and negative. After I heard it I hit them up and told them I wanted to do an episode reacting to theirs with them. I loved hearing it and thought the fans of this pod would like to see where they agree and disagree with these takes. Terrific
I've been listening for a few years now. I have really appreciated the perspective represented on the show. At times it feels as though a more conservative voice would not go amiss, but I have learnt a lot and been exposed to ideas that I wouldn't have outside of listening. Great work.
A bit of kindness would not go astray
Listened to the Craig Gross podcast, I used to be a fan of his, he was a blessing to me and really appreciated his work on the frontlines. I really appreciated the hosts of this podcast letting him talk. I wish they pulled him up when he started going a bit off the reservation criticising Rick Warren about him being overweight. The podcast hosts thought it was riot and encouraged it. As someone who struggles with weight I thought guys who have a bit more of an “open” podcast would be better than that. I guess fat shaming someone you dislike is still okay.
But back to the podcast, It showed his decline. It’s obvious that hes going through a mid life crises and mentally some mental things have taken their toll on him and he’s became (or maybe always was) quite a narcissist and the emotional pain he seemed to inflict on his wife was quite hard to listen to. I always as a younger guy thought those 40 year old men who discovered weed, used swear words and “man” and were into conspiracy theories were pretty sad. I wouldn’t have believed you that the well spoken Craig Gross would become one of them. Weird to hear a man with two kids and an interesting life sound no more sophisticated than a 20 year old stoner.
But credit to the hosts here, as they stated he is on a journey and has done the whole “discovered myself” journey a bit later so maybe he’ll come back. I hope he does. It certainly doesn’t invalidate the hard work he did before and the scars he took to prove it working in the ministry he did for such a long time. It’s a hard world at their everyone, take care of yourselves.
Changed my life
I was lost in my walk with the Lord until I came across this podcast. It has transformed my life and really encouraged me in my faith, including my prayer life, my perspective on church and miracles. God has never been more real to me and I have to thank Matt and Toby for discipling me in their ways. God bless.
