Perin Davey has admitted to being under the influence of alcohol speaking in the senate, just a week after images of a drunk and disorderly Barnaby Joyce went viral after he attended a political function. So, should government leaders be allowed to drink while on the clock? Or should the PM implement random drug and alcohol testing? We can't agree.

Plus, Mia shares her 'transcendent' Eras Tour experience with two self-declared “non-Swifties” and we unpack a trend at the concert that's giving us all the ick!

And, why even the smallest “bid” for connection, and how it's received, can be a crucial indicator of how healthy a relationship or friendship is.

Unfollow

Another long time listener of mamamia unfollowing this week after the god awful slot on the Israel-Palestine war. I thought the silence was bad (after initially being very vocal after the October 7 attack) and then to come out with a clearly pro-Israel stance when they are killing women and children with such a disregard for human life was the last straw. I’m so disappointed.

Deeply disappointing

As a longtime listener of Outloud and other Mamamia podcasts, the elephant in the room has become too big.

‘Absolutely everything is up for discussion

‘From pop culture to politics’

‘What women are talking about’

I would urge the higher-ups at Mamamia to go back to the drawing board with Out loud because at present, absolutely none of the above is true. What women are talking about is the humanitarian crisis in Gaza that is killing and maiming thousands of women and children. Mamamia is no longer Mia Freedman’s personal blog written from her bedroom, and as Australia’s largest independent women’s media org, you have a responsibility to act like a legitimate media company. Despite the pathetic attempts to explain away the radio silence in the end-of-year ep, this clearly crafted media stance can be nothing but Zionism and white feminism. Deeply disappointing.

Edit to add: Listened to Wednesday’s episode where there was an attempt at a discussion in the light of the murder of Hind Rajab.

For three ladies who love the word *nuance*, there was none to be found. There was zero mention of the work of the WattsApp group to get activists fired from their jobs or have their contracts revoked. Is that not considered a form of doxxing? How about Mia contacting Clementine Ford’s publisher and urging them to cut ties?

Shame to say this pod is well and truly a lost cause.

Points to Holly for attempting to stand up for what is right. Amongst the babble (x 2) we hear you.

After many loyal years, I’m out.

Thank you for the good times MMOL. You gave us great content for many years. I’ve been there from day one and was a paid subscriber until recently.

Quite simply you do not reflect what women are talking about, anymore - the MM’s purpose of “making the world a better place for women and girls” is the most disingenuous company purpose I’ve ever seen. Name one way you do that, please. One.

As many other reviews state, Holly remains fresh, open-minded. She has different life experiences and is far more down-to-earth. Jessie is too similar to Mia to share the mic.

Make the show Holly, Elfy and Claire Murphy.
