The Female Sex Scene We Never Thought We'd See

The Female Sex Scene We Never Thought We'd See

In a recent tweet, Bettina Arndt shared a poster from Griffith University’s dating manual which highlights a person’s right to say no to sex. In her words, she claimed that the manual encourages women to be “uncaring demanding bitches”. Despite her undisputed anti-feminist sentiment, the tweet made us ask, is Griffith University’s dating manual more partial towards women?

Also, vulvas and orgasms on Gwyneth Paltrow’s third episode of the Netflix series ‘the goop lab’ has got us all wondering, is female sexuality witnessing a big cultural moment?

Plus, our Quicky producer Melanie Tait tweeted a post asking, is it silly to gift a mum a facial or massage without organising for someone to look after her kids? We discuss.

Weinstein’s Lawyer Just Told Us What She Really Thinks

Weinstein’s Lawyer Just Told Us What She Really Thinks

Not surprisingly, the ratings for this year’s Academy Awards were at an all-time low. Joaquin Phoenix’s veganism speech felt a tad bit preachy to some and we’re asking, why is it that almost every Oscar acceptance speech has to adopt some sort of a political or ‘woke’ tone to make it memorable?

Also, more than 90 women have accused Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault. Donna Rotunno is Harvey’s female defense lawyer and her interview with the New York Times's Meghan Toohey has got everyone (including us) talking. What lies in the mind of Weinstein’s female defender?

Plus, an ad was banned from screening during the Oscars that showed the reality of what happens to a woman’s body after she has a baby. Was it really all that shocking? We discuss.

Taylor Swift And The "Annoying Woman" Syndrome

Taylor Swift And The "Annoying Woman" Syndrome

Swifties are buzzing because Taylor Swift’s documentary ‘Miss Americana’ is now out but her haters have called it a contrived attempt to self-victimise. So we’re wondering, what is the “annoying woman syndrome” and does Taylor Swift have it?

Also, do you use “as previously discussed” and “I’m balancing a lot this week” when emailing someone at work? If so, you could be considered passive aggressive but do we really know what these phrases mean?

Plus, are you an alarm snoozer? Is meditation a part of your morning ritual? What about laying your work clothes out the night before? Jessie, Mia, and Holly talk: morning routines.

The J. Lo And Shakira Debate That Split The Podcast

The J. Lo And Shakira Debate That Split The Podcast

Holly’s back so a dip into the royal family is almost inescapable. In a TV interview this week, Meghan Markle’s dad, Thomas Markle, said that he will talk to the media every 30 days until his daughter calls him back. Should media outlets be held accountable for playing a role in fueling family feuds?

Also, Richard Di Natale; the doctor turned Greens leader, announced his retirement from politics, saying that he wants to spend more time with his young sons, Luca and Ben, and wife Lucy. So should we worry about how our politician’s schedules impact their lives and families?

Plus, the American Superbowl halftime show aired on Sunday and it is full of implicit political messaging, a call for cultural diversity, and booty shaking. But was J. Lo and Shakira’s performance empowering or depressing?

    Is Coronavirus Making People Racist?

    Is Coronavirus Making People Racist?

False information and a sense of hysteria is in the air after nearly 8000 people have been affected by Coronavirus (at the time of the recording of this episode). But is the Coronavirus enabling an anti-Chinese sentiment?

Also, with Instagram, Facebook and even TicTok making everyone witness to our outfits of the day, healing journeys, and tedious workout routines, is there such a thing as a “personal life” anymore?

Plus, it hasn’t been easy wrapping our head around the complicated legacy of basketball legend Kobe Bryant. At his best, he was a dedicated husband and an active philanthropist but at his worst, he allegedly raped a 19 year old woman back in 2003. How do we navigate the good, the bad and the ugly of a celebrity’s legacy?

Kobe Bryant And The Shock Of Sudden Celebrity Deaths

Kobe Bryant And The Shock Of Sudden Celebrity Deaths

Kobe Bryant, widely considered one of the greatest basketball players of all time, and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna (Gigi), were among nine people killed in a helicopter crash over the weekend and the world is in shock.  So why do celebrity deaths affect us so much?

And Mia’s recent article on school holidays has gone viral.  She thinks the system is broken but what’s the answer when kids are out of school at 3pm and parents have to work till 5pm?

Plus, in her new docuseries ‘The Goop Lab with Gwyneth Paltrow’, Gwyneth Paltrow and her Goop team look at psychedelics, energy work and other wellness topics.  But are there any parallels to be drawn between Gwenyth Paltrow and pseudoscience advocate Belle Gibson?

Autefrum2 ,

I love that we don’t always agree

I am a pretty devoted listener these days but took awhile to warm to the series. I love the diversity of topics discussed and I particularly like that I rarely agree with much of what is said.... keep it the curious woman’s podcast with the odd bit of pop culture to keep me connected to the younger folk.

TALB2019 ,

UGHHH

RSTAAC ,
