A podcast about wine and sh*t. Mostly wine, but who's to say? Join wine professionals Marissa A. Ross (Bon Appétit Magazine) and Adam Vourvoulis (Vin de California) for the basics, in's and out's and latest conversations around natural wine.
Episode 51: Drunk Dial № 1: Calls from Steiner's Grave, VA & Frito Pies
In the first episode of Drunk Dial-- Adam and MAR's new hotline for listener questions-- King of Biodynamics Rudolf Steiner leaves a message from the grave to see what California white wines he should be drinking and they answer questions about volatile acidity, why yeast inoculation is such a big part of natural wine, what pairs with Frito Pies and more.
Have a question for Adam and MAR? Drunk Dial them! Call 213-245-1503, leave them a message about wine or literally whatever and they'll get back to you in the next installment of Drunk Dial.
Episode 50: In Quaran-Convo with James Jelks of Florèz Wines
Adam & MAR attempt Zoom technology with winemaker James Jelks while drinking Florèz Wines’ “Moonmilk,” chat about Chardonnay, Santa Cruz wines and god knows what else.
We’re doing our best so thanks for tuning in during this insane time.
Episode 49: Catching Up with MAR
MAR has her first glass of wine, Kindeli's "Otoño", in almost a month since she's been quarantined on quarantine with Shingles and cathes up with her bff Adam.
Episode 48: Adam Interviews Vinny Eng... Alone!
This is a first. With Marissa out sick Adam does a solo ep. He interviews Vinny Eng, the sommelier, political activist, writer, and all around great person. They talk about the restaurant industry and how COVID-19 is probably going to change it forever.
Episode 47: Maybe This IS a Natural Disaster?
MAR & Adam contemplate what if this was the last episode of the podcast? Ever?! And if it was, what are the big takeaways from the pod? Please note this episode was recorded before the pandemic reached its new heights. This is a serious matter and despite our love of laughing, we know coronavirus is no joke.
Episode 46: Why Beaujolais For President
Adam and MAR talk about the region of Beaujolais, why they put it on merch, and also get into politics and coronavirus because why the hell not considering the world might end? JK... sorta.
Entertaining and informative
loads of info from people who know what they’re talking about. Great for a novice in natural wine like me.
Great Wine Podcast. Exploring virtues of real wine vs conventional wine.
Have had a great time listening to the podcast thus far.
I feel Adam and Marissa provide the 2 key sides to the wine industry - Adam, who has experience buying, selling and making; And Marissa who has experience in consuming, digesting and writing.
They consistently talk about relevant issues and give enlightened commentary and educational pearls on interesting topics.
Would appreciate it if they could perhaps explore more of the nuanced parlance of wine making and tasting - they often see some of the things they discuss as widely known facts.
Overall I’m enjoying the journey. Wouldn’t be the same without the imbibement of good juice and the way that they get progressively looser, tangential and funny with their discussion as each pod goes on.
Rick and Morty and Kanye references are also a boon.
Cheers guys 🍷
