It’s a question we ask (and get asked) all the time: “How are you?” And normally we just respond with “Fine!” even if we’re totally dying inside, so everyone can go about their day.
But it’s not always all that fine, is it?
“Terrible, Thanks For Asking” is a show by author Nora McInerny that lets real people get real honest about how they’re really doing. It’s sometimes sad, sometimes funny, and almost always both.
Produced by Nora McInerny and Feelings & Co.

How To Lose Your Name
Cheval spent her entire life trying to be a wedding dress designer (she started sewing at 7 years old and studied fashion design in college). In her mid 20’s, she got her big break when a large fashion house hired her to design a wedding dress collection named after herself. But that dream only lasted eight years. She found herself in the middle of a legal battle that would take away her collection, her job as a designer, and eventually her name.

Into The Void
One thing we know about grief is that it needs a witness. That inside every griever is a nearly uncontrollable urge to make the people around us understand what we had and what we have now. In this episode, we are all David’s witnesses.

Making sense
Nora’s wonderful Podcast helps make sense of what is an incredibly messy journey through grief. Wonderful guests, relatable stories and Noras wonderful and compassionate interview style always makes for great listening! Highly recommended!
Thenedra
Such a lack of compassion shown by Thenedra by everyone in her life and she showed such a lack of compassion towards the innocent pigs slaughtered on her adoptive parents’ farm…is this linked? Either way I lost any respect for her as a person. Hope she has developed compassion towards ALL innocent beings as she’s matured.
Part of every week…
I enjoy this pod cast. I listen to it faithfully while I do laundry.
I am a mother of three, living far from home and working as a busy ObGyn. I see heaps of beauty and suffering and find that it helps me make sense of my world.
I have noticed and appreciate the shows leaning into deep diversity in the last 12+ months. The range of voices has made it even better. So so much better.
I will keep faithfully listening.
As an aside I have not enjoyed as much the more professional polished voices of these last two weeks. Don’t get me wrong. Lots of wise organised advocacy and thinking. The fruit of therapy and growth….but TTFA is at its best when it’s not too manicured.
