I'm Dr. Margaret, a psychologist for 30 years, TEDx speaker, and the author of Perfectly Hidden Depression. I created The SelfWork Podcast in 2016 to explain mental health treatment, and to give you the chance to consider therapy without thinking it's weird or that you can't "fix" your own problems. My team is so honored that five years later, SelfWork has earned nearly 5 million downloads! Each episode features the popular listener question. You’ll also hear “You Get the Gist” segments - a five minute run-down of a current topic - as well as interviews with outstanding guests, authors, or experts, adding to the wide diversity of topics listeners so appreciate. Regularly rated as one of the top mental health/depression podcasts out there, I keep it short and casual - and I'd love to hear from you. Please join me.

389 SelfWork: Are You or Someone You Love An HSP (Highly Sensitive Person)?

This week we're focusing on all of you who might see yourself or someone you love as being a HSP - or highly sensitive person. Given that 15 to 20% of the population is thought to “have” it – and I say that in quotes because it’s not something you have, it's something you are - it’s not an illness or a problem. It’s a personality trait. It characterizes you.

Perfect (no pun intended!)

Thankyou. I stumbled on this podcast and feel so grateful. At last I have the “words” to express and explain what I have struggled with inside for over 50 years. My first step is to summon the courage to finally ask for help. I almost feel like getting a transcript of the initial PHD podcasts - to take to someone - to help make them understand and finally process a lifetime of PHD. 🙏

Life changing

I stumbled across Dr M.R From Dr Caroline Leaf podcast about PHD (perfectly hidden depression) and it’s shifted so many things In My mind and heart. Like as if a fog in my mind finally disappeared and I understand things differently . I realized I was seeking clarity and understanding. I was so confused and lost that before it lead me to feel severely depressed and disappointed In myself. I’m so blessed to find so many podcast to help me mentally through this season. Thank you Dr Margaret for sharing your knowledge ! ❤️❤️
