493 - Lessons Learned from NASA

In this episode, I share some lessons learned from visiting the Kennedy Space Center down in Florida.

NASA Engineers and astronauts recognize that they will never see the fruits of their labor
They know that the goals along the way matter just as much as the end goal
They know that their may never be a true "end"
They get value and fulfillment from the practice of showing up and taking one tiny step forward
They see the larger picture in their work and focus on inching it slightly closer
They know that the future doesn't happen if they don't lay the groundwork

488 - The Mental Health Benefits of a Routine

488 - The Mental Health Benefits of a Routine

In this episode, we look at the mental health benefits of having a routine.

    1. Take Control of Your Sleep Cycle

"Routine can liberate your mental health, and it can have incredible psychological benefits, including alleviating symptoms of mental disorders, and insomnia. Creating a daytime routine for yourself or a loved one can promote better sleeping cycles." (Dr. Danielle Forshee)

    2. Know What to Expect

"The importance of mental health has been associated with a variety of mental health conditions, including bipolar disorder, addiction, depression, among others. The reason behind this is that when we organize ourselves and know what to expect, it’s easier to actively work towards counteracting the thoughts and symptoms of any of the aforementioned mental health conditions." (Psychology Today)

    3. Take More Time Off

"Creating a routine allows us to build in time for the important things. This includes time to rest, relax, and have fun. It’s not perfect – there are always going to be days when something overruns, a job takes three times as long as we expect it to take, or someone pops in unexpectedly. But structuring our time to include some downtime increases the likelihood that we’ll manage to have that time most days." (Blurt It Out)

Good advice which makes perfect sense

I am new to listening to podcasts and I have to say I am so glad I found Gregg's work. Such is the impact these short, well formatted podcasts have had on my life I have started adopting some of his philiosophies. His episodes are excellent, not full of marketing and sales hype just jam-packed with great well researched material and wonderful backing music! I applaud Gregg for keeping going with his dreams and desires to be a better person. You have certainly inspired me with your honesty and candour. Your voice is also excellent for listening to and very engaging. Keep up the great work Gregg! All the best from Australia :-)

From little things big things grow.

I found this podcast as I have been frozen into inaction by anxiety. Sometimes the smallest achievement can get all systems going again. A good reminder for the ongoing battle. Thankyou :)
