Life With Danni Duncan

Life won’t wait - we get one shot - and you are in the driver's seat.  You can Do Hard Things.  I’m Danni Duncan…featured fitness and nutrition coach, author, speaker and mum of 4 amazing kiddies (including twins). Online I’ve shared it all, my pregnancy journeys, miscarriages, why you SHOULDN’T be eating cereal for breakfast, how to make the perfect sourdough and helping you to see that YOU can do hard things.  The things I’ve said online have often got me into a bit of trouble, and its because I’m not afraid to call people out on their shit … I’m not afraid to discuss taboo topics and I don’t believe that any of us need to live an average life where we do what society is telling us is ‘normal’ … instead its our job to question “Why is that normal?” And is that what we want for our own life?  This podcast is going to be a space where I chat to experts (and share my own thoughts) on WHY we aren’t living our full potential.  Where you can get the facts that will help you to get your happiness, motivation and confidence back.  Taking the first steps can be hard, but I’m here to help you make it a little easier to face your fears and live your best life - every, single, day.  I will make you feel uncomfortable, I will make you think differently but you may just wanna hear it.   If you want to make this year the year that you do something for yourself, you’re in the right space. We Ran a Marathon Together. Here's the Honest Debrief.

Chris is not a runner. But last weekend he ran 42.195 kilometres anyway. This is our honest debrief of the Gold Coast Marathon. What went well, what fell apart, and what we'd do differently before the New York Marathon in 15 weeks. We talk about how we made marathon training work around four kids, full time work, and Chris still playing football through the entire prep. Zone 2 training, recovery, why mobility matters more than you think, and the moment around 36 kilometres where I started questioning everything. We also answer some of your juicy questions: how we manage mornings with four kids, switching off from work when you both work from home, and the PCOS and Ozempic conversation that I could honestly do a whole episode on.This one's real, honest, and a little chaotic. Just like us.We're also fundraising for bowel cancer awareness ahead of New York. We have a trivia night on the 5th of September in Melbourne and the link will be live next week. Every dollar counts.Donate to the Jodi Lee Foundation and support our NY marathon fundraiser here: https://fundraise.jodileefoundation.org.au/fundraisers/dannichrisduncan/new-york-marathon-2026-x-danni-duncanIf you need a push to take control of your health - download my app FIT by Danni Duncan: https://fitbythefigure.com/ or sign up for coaching: https://danniduncan.com.au/the-vitality-project-program/I also share all of my health and fitness tips over on IG @danni.duncan_ so if you want more, make sure you join me over there. “Australia has some of the highest rates of Bowel Cancer in the world.” Everything You Need to Know with Gastroenterologist, Professor Robert Bryant

Today’s episode is to support Bowel Cancer Awareness, and I really wanted to have this conversation because bowel cancer is something we often still think of as an “older person’s disease”. But we’re now seeing more and more younger people being diagnosed, and I think for a lot of us, especially women and mums, it can be really easy to explain away symptoms. We’re tired because we’re busy. We’re bloated because we ate something. Our digestion is off because life is stressful. We tell ourselves it’s probably nothing. So today I’m joined by Professor Robert Bryant, who is a specialist in gut health and Head of Inflammatory Bowel Disease at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide and also a dad of 4. I’m asking him everything around gut health and bowel cancer. Including: > Why are younger people now getting diagnosed with bowel cancer > Why Australia has some of the highest risk of bowel cancer in the world > Whether having IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), Crohns or being Celiac increases your chances of getting bowel cancer > How can we improve our gut health without relying on supplements > The signs and symptoms you should be keeping an eye on (and advocating for yourself if you have them!) … and SO much more If you’re over 45, you can grab a free bowel cancer screening kit here. If you're under 45 and you really want to get yourself checked, the Jodi Lee Foundation is selling them here. If you need a push to take control of your health - download my app FIT by Danni Duncan or sign up for coaching.  I also share all of my health and fitness tips over on IG @danni.duncan_ so if you want more, make sure you join me over there. Who decides if you’re a runner or not? The most incredible things Anna Liptak has experienced in 42 marathons (and counting)

A few weeks ago, Chris and I announced that we’re running the New York Marathon… and it still feels slightly ridiculous to say out loud. Because if you had told me years ago that running would become such a big part of my life, I wouldn’t have believed you. And I know a lot of you listening probably feel the same. “I’m not a runner.” That’s exactly why I wanted to have this conversation. Today I’m joined by Anna from Adventure Time Travel, who has run more than 40 marathons all over the world and helped thousands of people cross finish lines they once thought were completely out of reach. If you’ve ever wondered whether running a marathon is something you could do, what it feels like to finish the New York Marathon and what kind of changes lie ahead for you… Then this is for you. Stick around to find out: > Why so many people tell themselves they’re “not a runner”… and what actually changes when that story shifts > What it feels like standing on the start line of a marathon for the first time > The moments during a race that stay with you long after you cross the finish line > What goes through your head when things get hard… and how people keep going > What Anna has seen in thousands of runners once they finally say yes to something that scares them > What she would say to you if you’ve ever thought about running a marathon… but haven’t signed up yet If you want to hear more from Anna, you can find her on IG @annaliptakruns or @hisandhertime. Visit Adventure Time Travel at www.adventuretimetravel.com.au If you want to try Hyro, you can get 50% off your first subscription at www.drinkhyro.com/danniduncan You’ll also get a free welcome kit, flavour sample pack, free shipping and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Are your taste preferences even your own? What artificial flavours and additives are doing to our brains (and your kids!) with Jo from Additive Free Lifestyle

Right now there is SO much chatter around ultra-processed foods. We’ve got headlines about processed meats and cancer risk, food companies being sued in the US, and suddenly the term UPF (or ultraprocessed foods) is everywhere. And yet I think most people are still pretty confused because the food companies have deliberately made it difficult to figure out. You walk through the supermarket and you see things like: natural flavours no added sugar no added MSG gluten free …and it all sounds pretty healthy. But when you turn the packet around, the ingredient list can tell a very different story. Today I’m chatting with Jo from Additive Free Lifestyle to talk about it all - you’ve probably seen her stuff online before because she is an absolute powerhouse in this space.  A taste of what you’ll hear: > The first things you should be looking at when reading ingredients list at the supermarket > What to do when everyone around you keeps trying to feed your kids treats and sugar > The most common marketing claims you should avoid > How are ‘flavours’ even made (this one will shock you) > The effects ultraprocessed foods are having on our appetites and taste preferences  > Approaching birthday parties when you don’t want your kids to come home with insane energy levels > What it’s really like to live without ultra-processed foods > The difference Jo saw in her daughter’s behaviour as soon as she started cutting out snacks with artificial flavouring … and SO much more If you want more of Jo and are keen to see her tips, you can check her out on IG @additivefreelifestyle or visit her website www.additivefreelifestyle.com. And if you want to try Jo’s hidden additives app, you can find it here. If you want to try Hyro, you can get 50% off your first subscription at www.drinkhyro.com/danniduncan You’ll also get a free welcome kit, flavour sample pack, free shipping and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Belly Fat in Midlife: How to Get Rid of it + What Are Your Hormones Doing? With Nutritionist Amelia Phillips

Why does weight loss in midlife suddenly feel impossible? You’re told to eat less… but more protein. Fast… but don’t stress your hormones. Lift weights… but also prioritise recovery. Sleep more… but also train harder. And then when none of it works the way it used to, you’re told: “It’s your hormones.” So you think, great, I’ll fix my hormones. And then that doesn’t magically fix your weight either. Today we’re actually going to untangle this properly. I’m joined by Amelia Phillips - nutritionist, exercise scientist, and someone who spends a lot of time working with women in midlife navigating exactly this. I’m asking Amelia questions like: > How to do you know if you’re pre peri-menopausal, peri-menopausal or menopausal > What actually changes during the body in perimenopause that affects weight specifically? > Does fasting create more stress and inflammation for women? > Who should definitely avoid fasting? > How do I increase my protein while still reducing my calories? … and SO much more If you want more from Amelia, follow her on IG @_amelia_phillips or listen to her podcast Healthy Her on Apple or Spotify. And if you want to work with Amelia, visit her website www.ameliaphillips.com.au If you want to try Hyro, you can get 50% off your first subscription at www.drinkhyro.com/danniduncan You’ll also get a free welcome kit, flavour sample pack, free shipping and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
