    Listen Now: The Competition

    Listen Now: The Competition

Every summer for the past seven decades, 50 high school seniors—one from every state—descend on Mobile, Alabama to take part in one of the country’s most lucrative scholarship competitions for teen girls.

The Competition takes you behind the scenes of the Distinguished Young Women (DYW) program, and follows seven girls as they experience the highs and lows of competing for two weeks, away from home and under the most high-stress circumstances. Some girls enter for the money, some for prestige. All of them are used to being the best and the brightest. But only one will walk away with the top prize.

Host Shima Oliaee (Dolly Parton’s America, Pink Card) was Nevada’s contestant in 2001. More than 20 years later, she returns to Alabama as a judge. What can two weeks with 50 of the country’s most ambitious teens tell us about girlhood in America?

    Wondery Presents: Stolen Hearts

    Wondery Presents: Stolen Hearts

Sergeant Jill Evans is a small town cop in Wales with an impressive record in her job, and a less than impressive record in her love life. After three engagements, two divorces and one affair, she’s beginning to worry that love is only true in fairy tales. That is until she meets: Dean. He’s a wealthy beauty entrepreneur with his own range of toiletries.

Girl meets boy. Boy meets girl. They kiss and fall in love. Roll credits.

But that would be boring, wouldn’t it? Instead, this is a love story like no other. It’s all going so well for Jill and Dean, until Halloween night, when Dean disappears. And Sgt. Jill is left to pick up the pieces.

From Wondery and Novel, comes a new series. Hosted by Kerry Godliman.

Are You Oversharing on Social Media?

Are you one of the 4.7 billion people who use social media on a daily basis? While some people still keep a diary, others feel compelled to announce and show every detail of their life on social media. We are curious and interested in the lives of friends and family but do they really need to tell us what they had for lunch or how horrible their breakup was - with photos! How much is okay to share? Host Nikki Boyer and Co-Host Mr. Malone talk with Sarah Bregel, a writer, and self-described oversharer whose article about the end of her marriage went viral. Then they speak with Dr. Nina Vasan, a psychiatrist, and pioneer in digital mental health innovation, to get to bottom of why people overshare and how to use social media in a healthy way.

Great Podcast!

Nikki and Malone do such a great job! They are always funny and cheery and ask very insightful questions to their guests. The guests themselves are often quite the characters and knowledgeable on the episode’s topic. This podcast is an easy listen and always offers interesting things to learn.
