I absolutely love Alanis’s guests and was so excited to see Dr. Neufeld and Dr. Mate on the podcast. Alanis is truly intelligent and insightful, however the interrupting is so distracting is that it takes away from each episode. I understand the concept of wanting to have a deep and meaningful conversations with each guest but this isn’t a normal conversation when you are interrupting and attempting to finish your guests sentences. It’s kind of difficult to listen to. Otherwise, I do believe that this podcast would be one of my favourites.
Let the guests speak
I, like so many others here, was so excited to listen to Alanis and her great guests and I got 15 minutes in and had to shut it off and won’t listen to other episodes. I was a huge fan of hers musically but it’s literally anxiety inducing to hear her derail the convo every time a guest tries to speak and make it about herself. Why have experts on the show if we can’t hear their ideas? One has to walk the talk.. in a show about wellness, presence through active/empathic listening is fundamental.
I would love to hear more of the guests speak. While Alanis obviously is intelligent on the topics, I would prefer if she stopped interrupting so much. It’s incredibly distracting. In an episode I listened to today Peter Levine was mid sentence and I was excited to hear what he had to say only to have Alanis interrupt him and completely halt what he was getting at.
