I’ve been into true crime for a little while now. What got me hooked on true crime was the story about the Memphis 3. Actually it was a little t.v. Series called unsolved mysteries. Then Bill Curtis on A&E. I didn’t grow up with the internet. And believe it or not, i have heard of podcasts but didn’t know what they really were and what they were about. So Dateline is my favourite show, and being from Canada our version of Dateline is called Crime Beat. Don’t know if you’ve heard of it but it’s on podcasts know as well. So when i did some research on podcasts the last title was true crime. Listen to my first story on Dateline and I was hooked.

Season 1 I had to start several times before actually absorbing it. Delia does not go back and introduce Denise before she was murdered or her life beforehand. So I found it hard to follow, like who was this person ? In later seasons she does a MUCH better job of going back and starting from the beginning of their lives and leads up to the night where they were murdered. For season 1 I didn’t even know Denise had 6 sisters until episode 3 or 4?? I hate when there’s no introduction of the victim. I finished all the other seasons and they had me hooked but I’m struggling with season 1.

I have listened to all the seasons. But think seasons seven may be my favorite! I enjoyed every episode. There was new information provided, it got me thinking, it built off the previous episode, It flowed well… I could go on and on. I am praying for the boys and everybody involved!

I have enjoyed listening to Delia’s many podcasts. It is clear that she has a very strong sense of justice in the cases she has covered. Her research into cases goes far beyond what is typical for most podcasts. It is very clear that the five teenage defendants in this case were coerced into false confessions and that the justice system doesn’t want to admit the many failures that occurred in the convictions of these children. If they had been white kids, they never would have been treated this way. It is time for the justice system to admit their racial bias in past and present cases and do their best to eradicate this bias to conduct fair trials. Delia shows that she has a stronger sense of justice than the police, lawyers, and judges. She cares about people and understands the importance of correct process for victims of crime. She is a better sleuth than the majority of peace officers that are happy to pick the lowest fruit and press it into juice. This process usually produces a very poor and bitter vinegar rather than wine. If more people like Delia worked in the system, the courts would be more fair and effective. Victims of crime would be more likely to get real justice, and not the incarceration of innocent people to expedite the closure of cases.
