    Matt Bobkin and Deb Weir

On this episode of Finding Your Bliss, Celebrity Interviewer and Bliss Coach Judy Librach is joined by author Matt Bobkin! Matt Bobkin is a Toronto-based arts journalist and music critic. Most of his work uses music as a lens to explore global issues such as identity, gender, disability, and gentrification. Matt was the Features Editor at Canadian music magazine Exclaim! from 2016 to 2022, and his work has also appeared in the National Post, VICE, and Brooklyn Magazine. His first book, In Too Deep: When Canadian Punks Took Over the World, co-written with fellow Toronto-based music critic Adam Feibel, was just released this June 2025 via House of Anansi Press. Also on the program, we have dancer/choreographer and Founder of Boogie Babies, Deb Weir! Deb has been dancing since the age of four and hasn’t stopped moving since. She started teaching dance at just 14, and continued sharing her love of movement throughout high school and university. Over the years, she’s taken on a variety of roles in the performing arts world—from choreographing and performing in eight productions with the Unsung Heroes troupe, to creating dances for CHAT productions, to working with the Chicken Coop Theatre Company, where she led the kids’ division for five years. In addition to her dance background, Deb holds an Honours Degree in Kinesiology from Western University (2001) and a degree in Occupational Therapy from Queen’s University (2005). She brings this strong foundation in anatomy, movement, and body mechanics into every class she teaches—always with a focus on helping others feel capable, strong, and supported. During her university years, she volunteered in lactation clinics, NICUs, and maternity wards, helping new mothers navigate their journeys with confidence and support. When Deb became a mom (she now has two teenagers and three step-kids in their 20s), she taught mom-and-baby dance classes during both of her maternity leaves—and absolutely loved it. That experience eventually sparked the creation of Boogie Babies, a dance-based fitness program for parents and their little ones. Through Boogie Babies, Deb combines her passion for dance, her knowledge of movement, and her deep belief in the power of community to help parents connect, get moving, and have fun with their babies. What she noticed was that two things kept coming up: how lonely and isolating the journey can feel and how joy and fun often get lost under the weight of stress. Those feelings really hit home for Leslie. Having owned and operated her own Film/TV/Commercial video production company, she understood how easy it was to get caught up in the grind, feel alone, and forget about fun and joy. After countless conversations with female entrepreneurs and reflecting on her love for connecting people, celebrating women in business, hosting events, and leading with laughter and joy, her purpose became clear: To build a safe and supportive community where female entrepreneurs can come together to connect, grow, and thrive and have fun every step of the way.  Leslie is the creator of a wonderful new community called “Erapreneur”, she is also the host of the show “The Leslie Lives” and Judy Librach is also her Bliss Coach. Heather Bolt is the Founder and designer of an awesome clothing boutique called Dotty and she designs clothes for real bodies and for women who like versatile, elevated essentials, and who like to have fun with their style. She says “Fit is at the core of every single design, allowing women to feel empowered + confident in their outfit. Each silhouette is purposefully designed to be figure flattering over your beautiful belly + sexy back. Life is too short to wear boring clothes ladies - it's time to embrace your body at this age + stage, and have FUN dressing it.” When Heather was in university, she found herself sewing and altering pieces and her roommate finally asked her why she was considering law school when it was clear she should be working in fashion, and Heather realized her roommate was right.  After completing the fashion design program at the Academy of Design in Toronto, she worked for a number of international fashion brands, but realized there was a demand for sophisticated and flattering pieces for women that wasn’t being met. So Heather Bolt, owner or Dotty Dress Studio, said that:  “Women were telling me they weren’t comfortable going sleeveless at the office, so I designed something stylish and flowing that was universally flattering, machine washable and wrinkle free.” With locally sourced materials, Heather remains hands-on as the sole designer, overseeing all aspects –from initial sketches, to marketing, to final sales. Heather says her inspiration for Dotty comes from “helping to lead and inspire every kind of woman.”  You can follow us @theblissminute on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.
