Scene on Radio: Capitalism
Scene on Radio is a two-time Peabody-nominated podcast that dares to ask big, hard questions about who we are—really—and how we got this way. Our latest is Season 7, Scene on Radio: Capitalism. Previous series include Seeing White (Season 2), looking at the roots and meaning of white supremacy; MEN (Season 3), on patriarchy and its history; The Land That Never Has Been Yet (Season 4), exploring democracy in the U.S. and why we don’t have more of it; The Repair (Season 5), on the cultural roots of the climate crisis; and Season 6, Echoes of a Coup, the story of the only successful coup d'etat in U.S. history, in Wilmington, North Carolina, in 1898. Produced and hosted by John Biewen, with collaborators, Scene on Radio comes from the Kenan Institute for Ethics at Duke University. The show is distributed by PRX.

I love this podcast! Thought provoking! The series on race should be part of every schools curriculum. Many do not understand how institutionalized and systematic racism in North America is. This podcast is a great educational tool.

this not only speaks to the american reality but also north of the colonial border in ‘canada’ re: the prairies vs the west coast and big cities. the “politeness of whiteness” is gaslighting. if i have to deal with racism i’d rather it be blatant so i know who is safe enough and who isn’t. saying you want to do better but never actually doing the work is upholding white supremacy. thanks for breaking this down for folks and helping me feel less crazy. Haven’t finished the series yet and hoping to see some work being done and not the usual - white guy gets paid to talk about how racism works but never self-implicates …
S3: E7 Best hero and teacher ever

The young woman in this episode who had the bravery, intelligence and wisdom to stand up, speak out and educate her “friends”, her mother, as well as all of us about the results of her sexual assault will forever have my support and deepest respect. She is a true example of bravery, love and strength, and for teaching us all on how we can NO LONGER TOLERATE this insane behavior. Thank you for speaking out.
