Culture Lab with Kyla and Gabe

Dedicated listener to other Air Quotes Media pods, this one needs some work. The vibe, the banter, the back and forth with guests, it lacks flow, just seems off or disjointed. May come back in a few months, also, not a fan of the vocals on the intro.

Liberal Commentary disguised as impartial “data” sharing. Gerald Butts coming on to talk about Trump’s scandals and corruption is rich considering his time as Trudeau’s advisor overseeing green slush funds, WE charity scandals.. I will touch grass elsewhere.

I'd happily listen to Cultural Lab if only Kyla were the host. Spending an hour listening to Gabe fumble about and uhm, uhhh, ahhh his way through two-minute long questions is both painful and disrespectful of the show's guests and listeners alike. Gabe, listening to you interview guests is like listening to a student fake his way through interviews or exams because he's neither prepared nor practiced. Kyla, by contrast, asks sharp, concise questions that challenge and stymie the show's guests. Her question about the shift in the NDP party from brokerage to personality politics is a good example. I'm sure Gabe is great at many different things, so far podcast host isn't one of them. Prepare and practice, or seek fame elsewhere. Kyla, you're a natural!

Podcast off to a good start with an excellent interview with David Herle that provided more depth of analysis than we usually see on Canadian politics. As for Herle's reference to the Pew Research Center as a great data source and the absence of anything like it in Canada - please consider the Environics Institute for Survey Research, which has been doing similar work (if at a smaller scale) about Canadians for about 20 years. In some cases this Institute has consciously mirrored Pew surveys and questions to answer the same research issues here in Canada.
