Jason Kennney: Canadian unity, Alberta separatism, and life after politics for a political animal

Jason Kenney has been a political animal since he was a teenager growing up in Saskatchewan. He was first elected to the House of Commons while still in his 20s, and over the next 18 years rose to become a trusted cabinet minister under Prime Minister Stephen Harper. He returned to Alberta to unify a splintered conservative movement under one banner and become Premier in 2019, only to be dramatically deposed from within in a right-wing revolt over his handling of the pandemic. Today, Kenney has settled into life out of elected politics but still very much engaged in public debate over Alberta separatism, energy development and keeping the Conservative brand fresh and loud. In this interview with Christy, Jason recaps a 30-plus-year career in the public eye and reveals some surprising details about his political journey and its high and low points, such as: He became politically active in his teens as a young LiberalHis conservative awakening at a U.S. collegeBC Premier David Eby makes Justin Trudeau seem humbleThe economic dangers of even just flirting with separatismThe radical right takeover of Alberta’s United Conservative PartyAlbertans need to take ‘yes’ for an answerFinding his family roots in Ireland after he was ousted as PremierPierre Poilievre deserves another shot as CPC leader The Christy Clark Show thechristyclarkshow.com Instagram instagram.com/christyclarkbc Linkedin https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-christy-clark-show/ Inquiries info@thechristyclarkshow.com

John Bolton: Opposing Trump, Canada-U.S. relations, the Iran War and American power in a dangerous world

John Bolton joins Christy Clark for a candid conversation on global instability, Canada-U.S. relations, regime change in Iran and how to navigate a world where power is shifting so rapidly. Bolton served four U.S. presidents as a senior foreign policy official known for his hawkish stands. He was one of the architects of the Iraq War and the War on Terror, an ardent critic of the United Nations (even while he was the U.S. ambassador) and an advocate of forceful regime change for America’s foes. He offers a blunt assessment of Donald Trump’s erratic trade and foreign policy, saying they are creating long-term negative consequences. He also makes the case for regime change in Iran. Through it all, Bolton continues to be an unapologetic proponent of the maximum use of American power and might to advance U.S. interests. In this episode: -Canada’s trade relationship with the United States is under real strain -Why Trump’s tariffs may be doing lasting damage to both economies -The risk of turning to China as an alternative partner -Why “middle powers” may not be the solution Canada hopes for -The case for regime change in Iran -How conflict in the Middle East could reshape global energy and security -Why American leadership still matters more than many think -The future of conservatism after Trump 🔔 Subscribe and like The Christy Clark Show for more thoughtful, respectful conversations about the forces shaping our world.
