Every day, hundreds of people go about their lives with no idea that someone has paid to have them killed. In the depths of the dark net, tech journalist Carl Miller makes a disturbing discovery: a secret “kill list” targeting hundreds of innocent people on a murder-for-hire website. When the police are slow to investigate, Carl is thrown into a race against time to warn those in danger and uncover the truth before it’s too late. From Wondery and Novel comes a shocking true story about obsession, control and the price of life and death. Follow the Kill List on the Wondery App or wherever you get your podcasts. Really good

I’m enjoying this podcast. The host, Carmela, seems a bit naive sometimes (he seems to think that because the police aren’t keeping him in the loop, that they haven’t taken him seriously or aren’t doing their jobs) but the stories, the crimes that get intercepted because of his team uncovering this story are pretty incredible. All in all a binge-worthy podcast.
Man makes 10 part podcast about dark web murder conspiracy instead of admitting DV exists

This podcast starts from an incredibly flimsy premise: the journalists “good friend” just happens, somehow, to hack into a dark web murder for hire website and access the site admins messages, showing a series of requests from people attempting to pay to have someone killed. (Why this friend was doing this and how he hacked the website is glossed over and not once treated like part of the story even though the answer to these questions feels pretty relevant to why this podcast even exists at all, but whatever.) One of the requests is eventually tied to a real life murder, resulting from what is very obviously a case of domestic violence. There is zero evidence that the ~super real dark web murder site~ ever took any action on the request, or had anything to do with the murder itself; the man who contacted the site for help murdering his wife ultimately just murdered her himself. Instead of respecting the real tragedy that unfolded here, the journalist at the centre of this podcast spends the whole series asking “did I just totally find a REAL DARK WEB SNUFF SITE??????” No amount of law enforcement, the FBI, etc telling him that this is not a sooper seecret dark web snuff conspiracy, and that it is obviously a scam he’s falling for, will deter him. He’s decided that this random DV murder is his ticket to the story of his career no matter how much he has to fabricate or how disrespectful to a real murder victim he ends up being. Shameful.
Absolutely spelbinding
