I’ve enjoyed Ben Laude’s YouTube work, especially his exploration of Gould and his discussions with Seymour Bernstein, Hamelin, and Ohlsson. This podcast exceeds the pristine and engaging quality of that material. The level of depth, the exposure to remarkable musicians and their thoughts on Chopin and to the brilliant biographical work of Alan Walker, and the interesting suggestions for great recordings (I was really glad to see Murray Perahia, one of my favourite Chopin interpreters, get his due in the Barcarolle episode) are just the beginning. There’s considerable depth here. Plenty of unsparing theoretical exploration but done in an accessible way. So much love and enthusiasm for Chopin. I learn a lot every episode. I’ve re-listened to my favourite episodes while waiting for the next instalment. Highly recommended.
