    By Lexi Waters

I was born and raised in Northern California. I attended BYU in Utah and met my husband after graduating and moving back to California. We have moved around a bit, and now have recently landed in the Boise, Idaho area. I have 4 boys, ages 5,9,12, and 14. I started homeschooling in 2016 and I love it.

I never struggled with weight as a child, and not even as a young adult. But after I got married and quickly started to have children, the weight started to creep on. I would lose it, gain it back in the next pregnancy, and then repeat the cycle, adding a little bit more onto my baseline each time. I felt sluggish, always in a brain fog, and stuck in a perpetual cycle of over-restriction and lack of control. I definitely came to a point of helplessness where I felt that my only options were to succumb to a life of perpetual weight gain and increasing health issues, or to be so strict and rigid to always deny myself the foods that I enjoyed.

I found some success on the keto diet, but it was still a lot of back and forth, on and off, gaining and losing for me. Through keto I discovered intermittent fasting, and some other influencers that helped me to steer toward that path. After an experience of re-gaining weight I had lost very quickly once again, I decided to commit to intermittent fasting and make it work. At first I struggled to find a daily window that worked for me (also not clean fasting). Then I decided to commit to ADF for 6 months, doing the 4:3 method, where I fast MWF, eat Sun, Tues,Thurs, Sat. I ended up loving it and continuing past the 6 months. I lost 35 lbs (16 kilos)  in 9 months, going from 209 lbs (94 kilos) to 174 lbs (78 kilos). At the end of 2020 I re-gained a little bit and my body has been a bit stubborn about getting it back off, but I have maintained at least a 25 lb (11 kilo) loss since then.  I am okay with it taking a while to get back to goal weight, because this is a lifestyle in which I feel at peace with food and in control of myself, and I’m pretty sure I’ll do it forever!

Episode 92 Kirsty a truly remarkable transformation losing 58 kg (127 pounds) in 6 months, regaining her life back.

Episode 92 Kirsty a truly remarkable transformation losing 58 kg (127 pounds) in 6 months, regaining her life back.

My name is Kirsty, I’m a 39 year old from Melbourne, Australia. I am a busy Mum to two amazing little boys, work part time as an occupational therapist and support my husband running his renovation and extension business.   I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. I was always ‘bigger’ than all of my friends even though I was always trying to do something about it, but it just didn’t seem to matter, I so easily constantly gained weight no matter what. I have successfully lost a significant amount of weight on a number of occasions over the years, but every time, I always regained it and then some! There have been many times when I have just thrown my hands in the air out of defeat and just given up… and the weight kept creeping.   I lost 47kg (103lbs) before falling pregnant with my first son and felt fantastic! I swore I would never go back! But 4 years, 2 pregnancies and 56kg later, I found myself at my heaviest weight ever at 130kgs (286lbs). I felt so ashamed of myself for regaining the weight I had worked so hard to lose and I felt worse than ever. I struggled with pelvic pain post pregnancy, and entered a cycle of chronic inflammation. I was overweight, miserable and feeling like I was living in the body of an unhealthy 60 year old in my mid thirties.   Something had to change, and a friend introduced me to Michael Moseley’s “Fast 800” diet in May 2020. I started the fast 800 diet on 1st June 2020 and experienced significant success with a combination of fasting and restricting my daily calories. I made a connection between my insulin resistance and my lifetime of weight struggles and felt like I had finally uncovered the key to my success. For the first time in forever I didn’t feel like something was ‘wrong’ with me. I enjoyed understanding the science and dived right into understanding it more. I learned a LOT in this space over the coming months as I continued to experience success. I soon moved to OMAD and adopted a low carb/keto style diet and stopped counting calories. I felt full for the first time in forever and I was eating less and less often than ever before. Weight was quite literally falling off me for the first time in my life. From June 2020 to December 2020 I successfully lost 58kg (127lb). In 6 months I dropped from a size 22/24 to a size 8/10. I’ve been maintaining my weight loss for 9 months now and I have regained my life.   No longer am I living life from the sidelines, no longer am I ‘making up’ for the shame I felt about my size by over compensating and overachieving in other ways. I feel free to be entirely, unapologetically me for the first time in my adult life and it feels free! Fasting has given me the tools I will use for the rest of my life to keep feeling this way.

Episode 91 Megan Kreizenbeck An experienced intermittent fasters journey losing 27.2 Kg (60 pounds) along the way.

My name is Megan Kreizenbeck, I am a 38-year-old Mother of two beautiful girls and wife of an amazingly supportive man. I have been intermittent fasting since January 2020 with only one hiccup. I have lost 60 lbs and have gone from a US size 14/16 to a size 4/6. (I started at 220 lbs and am now 160 lbs) I work for the Idaho State Police in a Civilian position as Project Coordinator in the Commercial Vehicle Safety unit. When I am not at work, I am heavily involved in a local Vintage Volkswagen Car club working on the board and planning events to keep our community infested with Slug bugs. Between work and the car club being a mother is where I thrive the most and I try my best every day to be the most supportive spouse I can to my husband. Every fall we head to the mountains of our great state and do our best to harvest some wild game to fill our freezer. We butcher all of our own meat and I have cultivated many recipes to best suit the game we harvest. My hobbies are not a short list, I am a person that keeps herself overwhelmed with projects. I love to cook, sew, Paint, draw, and make colorful graphics that I make into shirts and other textiles. I love to help restore old beetles, my jobs tend to be interior work and I am instructed on where I need to get my smaller arms to do the tedious greasy work my husband can’t reach. If you have listened to the Life lessons podcast, they read a letter that I wrote for their good news segment on episode 15. I encourage everyone to listen to it because it is a beautiful story and may be the epitome of what I believe humanity to be.

Episode 90 Lizzie Akers. A very inspiring 32 Kg (70 Pounds) weight loss journey living an Intermittent Fasting Lifestyle.

    By Lizzie Akers.

I am a 37 year old mother of two, young girls. I have been married for 12 years and a teacher in the classroom for 11 years and now on my second year at a charter school. I have lived all over the United States but currently live outside of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I live on several acres and enjoy gardening, traveling and laying in my hammock reading. I homeschool my children and assist in homeschooling many more. My days are filled and very busy. I am an avid swimmer and enjoy hiking and taking nature walks. I have struggled with my weight since adolescence. I dealt with an eating disorder from high school to college and finally got help and counseling in college. When I met my husband I was at the lowest weight I had been since high school. I was running and watching my calories. After meeting my husband and starting my career, enjoyed food a little more and stopped running as much and put on 60 plus pounds. When we decided to start a family, I was able to carry both my children with healthy pregnancies but found myself 100 lbs. over weight. In February 2021, I had a friend on Facebook post about her journey on Intermittent fasting so I decided to hop in full force. I started February 2nd 2021 and have fasted every day since. I enjoyed the flexibility and the easiness of fasting. I am doing this for my comfort level. I am a naturally very healthy person and even my doctor told me I do not have to lose weight for health reasons but it is always a good thing to be at a healthy weight for you and your family. I have followed a OMAD protocol (usually in the afternoon) but I for the month of September I am trying to do MADF at least 2 days a week. I have lost over 70 lbs. and I will never go back. I enjoy using my vibration plate every day and playing with my children.

Episode 89 Nambee Ragavan a successful intermittent fasting story from Asia losing 40 Kg (88 Pounds) over fourteen months.

My Intermittent Fasting (IF) journey began back when the pandemic hit Malaysia. As we went on a lockdown, I realised that this is going to be a few challenging months ahead dealing with the pandemic, and as someone living alone, it was a challenge on its own.

Having the idea that I want to do something for myself during this lockdown, many ideas were going around the internet, many were suggesting to pick up new hobbies, learn a new language etc, but none of them appealed to me. I did try to sign up for some online courses but realised I didn’t have the discipline to follow through it.

As March went by, many were already complaining that they are putting on weight considering all of us are homebound and lacked physical activities. This was my turning point, as I scrolled social media and saw everyone talking about putting on weight, I decided that I want to come out of this pandemic in a very different way, to try something that I have never done before or people have seen before – me at my ideal body weight.

I have always been overweight, as far as I can remember, I can’t recall when was the last I was at my ideal weight, it was probably during my Primary school (Grade 1-6) days. Since my high school, I have been on the overweight category which led to obesity as time went.

So with the motivation to come out of this pandemic very differently from others, to also be a fuel for my positivity, I started my IF journey with me realising I was doing IF. It all started with me planning to eat lesser and I wanted to cut down my dinner. And as a person who generally don’t like to eat breakfast, I was only left with lunch to eat, but I had also had the habit of snacking.

As I wanted to find a proper diet regime, I discovered IF. I did some research and realised that I am already doing this by not having breakfast, so all I have to do is cut the dinner and stop the snacking.

16 months later, almost at my ideal body weight, I am still experimenting what is going to be best moving forward as I am reaching my ideal body weight

Episode 88 Hannah Guthland Waight A busy nurse wife and moms incredible 38kg 80 (pounds weight) loss journey.

Episode 88 Hannah Guthland Waight A busy nurse wife and moms incredible 38kg 80 (pounds weight) loss journey.

My name is Hannah. I'm a 37 year old nurse, married and mother to one five year old boy. I've been overweight my entire life...not morbidly obese, I was just always the chubby friend even as a child. I can remember as a child my grandma giving second portions of dessert to my cousin's, but never to me because I always had a "weight problem." I played sports in high school and even at that time I would not have called myself slim or athletic. I really struggled with this through my teenage years and into my twenties. I had a few boyfriends, but I was never the girl boys wanted to date. My grandma always said I was more of a breeding mare than a racing horse. Lol!

I used various coping mechanisms to deal with this. Primarily alcohol. I found that it was a very effective social lubricant. I could be the super fun party girl and mask all the pain I was carrying about my self hatred and frustration with not being able to lose the weight. I tried my best to be what other people thought I needed to be, without working on myself or what I needed. As a teenager, I remember doing weight watchers with my momma but never really lost more than 10lbs. I had some brief success in my early 20s where I worked out nonstop and made it down to 170, but I hate working out and it just wasn't sustainable so I gained everything and then some back.

I had an entire career in banking. I worked my way up to teller manager and personal banker in the industry, but I still struggled with alcohol and there were many days where I went to work still intoxicated from the night before. I woke up one morning and realized I had to make a change. This wasn't all that life had in store for me and it was up to me to change it. I moved back home and enrolled in college to become a nurse. I was 25 at the time. Those four years of college, I was an incredibly dedicated student and spent my days studying from dusk until dawn in the library. I wasn't thinking at all about what I was eating or physically working on my body. I was singularly focused on my goal so I put on a significant amount of weight. I was using food as a reward system. If I did good on a test, I would go through the drive through and buy myself a meal as a treat. Your book really resonated with me because I've always been a closet eater. No one ever knew about these extra treats I would buy myself. I'd eat small portions in front of my mom and go finish eating in private where no one could see.

Starting Weight: 247lbs /112kgs/17.6 stone, size 20W US Current Weight: 167lbs/75.7kg/11.9 stone, size 10 US Goal Weight: 150lbs/68 kgs/10.7 stone
