True Crime Campfire

A podcast notable for what it doesn’t have: robotic narration of old stories, ‘hang’em high’ attitude, that cloying, simpering description of “light up a room” people who spent their whole lives taking in strays, which so many TC pods seem to think gives them a licence to exploit their suffering in graphic detail. In the end, people are just people: we all have our light and our darkness. Well-written, thoughtful scripts. And dare I say, funny. That is a fine line to tread in this genre, and they do it well.

From the witty banter to the thorough storytelling, I have truly been enjoying this podcast! I was lucky enough to hear about it from a friend’s recommendation. Great work, ladies! Keep on keepin’ on.

I just recently discovered these two funny ladies...they sound like they'd be a blast to bring around for a 'girls night out'. I do feel the need to mention a few teeny tiny things that grate on my nerves a little bit, and triggers my misophonia (so this review is especially for my fellow 'misophoniacs') First, one of them speaks with a nasal, sort of whisper-talk 😒, that often forces me to lower the volume as far as it can go, so that I can still hear it, but it's slightly less annoying. Another teeny tiny thing is the never ending use of the word "like" for one of them whenever she goes off script; she uses "like" as if she thinks the word was going out of style...😬. Finally...the vocal fry both of them sometimes slip into...thankfully it's not all the time, so my face only looks like this 😖, a small number of times. But other than that, I really do enjoy this podcast.

The hosts don’t insert themselves too much. There is some playful banter here and there but never at the expense of a victim. The situation is retold at a good pace and easily digestible.
