Fat, trans, disabled people, and anyone who doesn’t fit the mold, are always welcomed at Uncle Nat’s.  This layered conversation has it all: tales from the salon world in the 80s, Nat's previous career in music, why they're taking back the word “uncle,” their journey of transitioning later in life, the genesis of their gender-affirming business, and why community building is imperative, to tease a few. Faced with case delays, a hard winter, and limited resources, Selin recounts her family’s 13 month stay at a Christian-Armenian refugee camp in Madrid, Spain as they awaited U.S. citizenship— including a moving account of how her Mom offered translation to help speed up the process for 164 families in limbo.  We also celebrate 10 beautiful years of friendship after meeting on Forum-Nexus Study Abroad back in the summer of 2014. Hear the genesis of our friendship, how we went on to work for the program and spend a handful of summers in Europe together, and the wild times had while abroad and since.
