Real Time with Bill Maher

It's nice to hear someone publicly express what most of us (specialy those who live abroad the US) feel about President Bush.

I like Bill for the most part. I think sometimes he sounds like a grumpy old man ( and I’m getting there myself ) but my main complaint is the unbearable woo guys that are obviously paid or encouraged to shout wooooo after jokes. The over the top nature of the applause and woooos make it almost unlistenable to anyone under 60. It’s the next fakest thing to a laugh track and anyone under boomer age will hear it immediately. Who shouts woooo when they hear a funny joke? Stop it!!! Also listen to the old episodes. They didn’t have this.

I just love Real Time with Bill Maher & was sooooo happy to get the podcasts again after a long pause. But: the audio quality is still the same as it (occasionally) used to be -- skippin', skippin', skippin' no end in #198. Sometimes it's milliseconds, sometimes more, but always enough to garble things and with fast-paced quips and remarks, often enough to leave you wondering what the joke was that the audience is laughing at. Come on HBO, it REALLY can't be THAT hard to cull a halfway decent .mp3 (or other iPhone/iPod compatible format) file off a TV recording, can it now? I listen to a variety of podcasts (hardly have any decent on-air stuff to see/listen to where I live in SE Asia) and it's all skip-free. Where's your problem?!?

If only I didn't have to wait a whole week to hear this podcast! Bill Maher is the bravest, truth sayer comedian since George Carlin.
