„The Fire These Times“ is a wonderful podcast, particularly in these polarized times. The hosts invite deep discussion with engaged and brilliant guests and are interested in highlighting complexity and both/and thinking rather than reductive and binary approaches. I am grateful it exists and think it makes for essential listening. Thank you TFTT.

The Fire These Times is without a doubt in my mind one of the most unique podcasts I listen to. Listening to each episode is like viewing an artist at work - Joey is creating a tapestry in collaboration with each guest. With each topic, he weaves narratives across time and covers a breadth of space with a spectrum of carefully chosen coloured threads. Like a tapestry, one can recognize distinct yet familiar patterns, allowing one to seamlessly connect ideas across topics/episodes. Each episode is a deep dive into the important movements that shape our lives today - whether it’s building transnational solidarities (Syria-Ukraine), or envisioning solarpunk and climate futures, the discussions are always comprehensive and nuanced. Like Joey, the guests have written extensively about their first hand accounts of being a part of these movements, sometimes spearheading them too. Personally, my favourite part of the podcast is how I always come away from each episode with a fresh perspective. Due to the trustful environment that’s fostered between Joey and the guests, I have been able to unlearn many wrongheaded, reductive ideas with grace and replace them with more pluralistic, inclusive ones.
