Best of MURDERISH - E90 “Marlene Warren: Killer Clown”

On the morning of May 26, 1990, Marlene Warren was finishing breakfast with her son and his friends when she heard a knock on their front door. The 40-year-old mother of two wasn’t expecting anyone but answered the door anyway. She was greeted by someone wearing a clown costume and white face paint, clutching a flower arrangement and foil balloons. Marlene was delighted at the cheerful sight. Then, suddenly, everything changed. Moments later the clown pulled out a gun, aimed it at her face, and pulled the trigger. The bizarre attack left the community puzzled and horrified, at a time when authorities were ill-equipped to find answers.

Connie Dabate: “Unexpected Evidence” | MURDERISH Ep. 131

It seems like everyone is wearing an Apple Watch or FitBit to count steps and reach health goals. In the case we examine in this episode, the victim’s wearable technology was actually used as a tool to try to solve her murder. Two days before Christmas in 2015, 39-year-old mother of two Connie Dabat was found shot to death in her Connecticut home. As detectives scrambled for answers, a small device worn on her hip was key in learning the truth about her death. When law enforcement settled on a suspect, the news rocked the community and Connie’s loved ones to their core.

Best of MURDERISH - E85 “Jennifer Turner: Murder or Self Defense?”

We’re bringing back a case where divorce brought out the worst of those involved. Past mistakes, love affairs, and previous marriages were all fair game. At a certain point, all of the fighting ended, but not in a way that anyone would have wanted. The contentious divorce proceedings came to a halt when one of the parties was murdered, or was she?

In July 1999, when Jennifer Still was found savagely murdered in her home, law enforcement had a suspect but the case eventually went cold. Introducing COLD: The Search for Sheree

Introducing COLD: The Search for Sheree

Sheree Warren left her job in Salt Lake City on a mild October evening in 1985. She told a coworker she was headed to meet her estranged husband, Charles Warren, at a car dealership. But she never made it, Sheree vanished. When her car mysteriously surfaced weeks later, hundreds of miles away in Las Vegas, no one could say how it got there.

When a young mother disappears under unexplained circumstances, police always turn suspicious eyes towards the husband. And although there was distrust around Charles Warren, he wasn’t the only suspect when Sheree went missing. She also had a boyfriend, a former cop named Cary Hartmann, who lived a sinister double life.

Season three follows two suspects– men who both raised suspicion for investigators. But with two strong persons of interest with competing facts and evidence, it muddied the murder investigation. This season, host Dave Cawley, digs into the lives of these two men, the details of the case and examines the intersections between domestic abuse and sexual violence. The COLD team seeks to answer the question: what really happened to Sheree Warren?

Best of MURDERISH - E72 “Abraham Shakespeare, The Devil’s Money”

We’re bringing back the case where a lottery winner used his newfound wealth to help his community. His generosity extended not only to his family and friends but to people whom he didn't even know. When this man suddenly couldn’t be located, his family wondered where he had gone. Did he use his lottery winnings to go on a much-needed vacation, exhausted from all the people asking for money? Did he flee to get away from legal trouble he was in? Or, could it be possible that someone made him disappear?
