This podcast will be complicit in child abuse

This podcast erases the affected children's voices and the voices of victims of child abuse as well as Münchhausen by Proxy as a recognized form of child abuse. Advocates for the right-wing narrative that mandated reporters, including child abuse pediatricians, are out to kidnap children (when in fact they have nothing to gain and everything to lose when reporting) probably never imagined profiting from a Serial podcast. For more information on Münchhausen by Proxy, I recommend the podcast "Nobody Should Believe Me", especially season 1.

I listen to serial a lot and liked most of their series, especially the one done by Brian Reed and also the Retrievals was such a great show. This season is a disgrace for serial and the NYT. Their high journalistic standards don’t seem to matter anymore as Dyan Neary is just about to say anything. She reduces the narratives of the families to the facts that they wish to share because she just chooses to believe them?! Wait… perpetrators don’t always tell the truth? How shocking. Even though there is more than enough evidence that there was abuse in these cases and that the story of the seven months old baby being kicked out of a bassinet by his two year old sister makes no sense at all, we are presented it as if it was the one truth. Fact: these children have told investigators that their mom has previously hit them and has been mad and angry and „bad“ a lot, before they were taken away. Fact: a kids arm doesn’t break when changing a diaper because of the bone flexibility of babies. Fact: The fractures and near fatality report are consensus upon pediatricians. I would really like to know who these other doctors were that Dyan Neary asked about the medical history. Did she present all of the history and have them review it just like Dr. Jenssen did? This show is so one-sided and badly edited because the choices it makes when narrating the story blame the child abuse pediatricians from the start, it is nowhere near being unbiased. On the contrary it is again a witch hunt against child abuse pediatricians in this case Debra Jensson who is an expert in her field and doesn’t just call out abuse for no reason but has standards and statues for these kinds of things. Unlike Dyan Neary who just shouts out she is wrong in all of her cases basically. Plus, they don’t even mention the fact that it’s a judge who makes a removal decision, not a child abuse pediatricians. That’s not their job. Their conclusion is so harmful to the efforts of protecting children that are in place now. We don’t need to give abusive parents even more rights and power over their children. We need better support systems so that moms who are worn out or exhausted or overwhelmed have someone to help them and to prevent abuse from happening instead of turning a blind eye.
