Batterier nok til den grønne omstilling? – Dorthe Ravnsbæk, materialekemiker, leder efter alternativer til litium

Vi skal bruge langt flere batterier, hvis biler, energiforsyning og resten af samfundet skal køre på el. Men der er et problem: Vi har ikke ressourcer nok til at fortsætte med at lave batterier, som vi gør i dag. Derfor leder forskere efter nye materialer, der kan lagre energien fra sol og vind uden samme afhængighed af blandt andet litium, kobolt og nikkel. En af dem er Dorthe Ravnsbæk, som er professor i materialekemi ved Kemisk Institut på Aarhus Universitet. Hun forsøger at forstå og udvikle de materialer, der får batterier til at virke, helt ned på atomniveau. I laboratoriet fremstiller hendes team nye materialer og bruger blandt andet røntgenstråler til at se, hvordan de forandrer sig. I denne udgave af VIDENSKAB FRA VILDE HJERNER kan du også høre, om en uventet opdagelse, som har ført Dorthe Ravnsbæk til at undersøge, om den rette form for uorden mellem atomerne ligefrem kan få et batteri til at fungere bedre. Why Is It A Colour Wheel & Not A Line?

Colour wheel or colour line? Light itself runs in a straight line from red to violet, yet every colour theory chart bends that spectrum into a circle and the reason has nothing to do with physics. Professor Hannah Fry and Michael Stevens (VSauce) dig into why human vision refuses to see colour the way light actually behaves, tracing the visible light spectrum from one end to the other and asking where all the "missing" colours, like magenta and purple, actually come from if they don't exist on that spectrum at all. It turns out the colour wheel is less a description of light and more a diagram of a workaround your brain performs constantly. Pip pip piiiip: Er fuglesang godt for psyken?

Det er blevet populært at kigge på fugle. Ariana Grande gør det. Jeremy Clarkson gør det. Vogue har udnævnt det til sommerens ‘Hot Girl hobby’, og fuglene er i høj grad fløjet fra trætoppene og helt ind på vores Instagram-feeds. Men udover at det er trendy, så er der også forskning, der peger på, at det er sundt for psyken - især at lytte til fugle. Derfor har Brainstorm-værterne Nana og Anne Sophie i denne uge rykket podcaststudiet ud i det nærmeste stykke natur, og herfra undersøger de, hvad forskningen egentligt siger om, hvad fuglesang gør ved psyken. Og om de mon kan finde Danmarks næstmest almindelige fugl undervejs.
