What if your child could learn that feeling scared does not mean they are not brave? What if one slow breath and the comfort of a trusted friend could make the darkness feel less frightening? Nori and Bitsy’s Night Under the Fireworks is a gentle bedtime story for kids about friendship, courage, fear of the dark, calming breaths, and finding light during uncertain moments. At the edge of a sparkling ocean, Bitsy the golden cat and Sparky the fluffy puppy live in a cozy boathouse beside their best friend, Nori the silver narwhal. The friends spend their days sharing berries, collecting seashells, exploring the harbour, and watching the sunset. But when the final sunlight disappears, Bitsy’s eyes grow wide, Nori’s rainbow tusk dips lower, and Sparky’s ears begin to droop. All three friends are afraid of the dark. One afternoon, a little red crab announces that the Harbour Fireworks Celebration is happening that night. The friends want to see the rainbow-coloured fireworks, but the celebration will not begin until the sky is completely dark. Then Bitsy has an idea. What if they stay together? Bitsy carries blankets onto the dock. Sparky prepares their favourite fruit and a tiny berry plate for the crab. Nori surrounds the dock with glowing seashells. As the first star appears, the friends move closer. Bitsy admits that she feels scared. Sparky wraps his paws around her, Nori curls a flipper close, and together they take a slow breath. In... And out. The darkness is still there, but it feels less frightening when they are together. Soon the harbour fills with golden, blue, red, green, purple, and silver fireworks. The loud booms surprise the friends, but they stay close and continue breathing together. They discover that being brave does not mean never feeling scared. Sometimes bravery means taking a slow breath, staying close to someone you trust, and noticing the little lights around you.
