    Lost Stories - King Peacock

    Hey story lovers! While you’re waiting for the next new story, we’ve decided to look back into the archives at some stories that got a bit lost for a while. Every other week, we will be giving these episodes a spot light and calling them 'the lost stories'. Our story comes from the Louisiana Bayou. It's a Cajun story, and you can learn more about Louisiana and the rich Cajun culture HERE. The little song we sing is a French Cajun ditty. The lyrics are quite horrid but also funny: Cajun French Les maringouins l'ont mangé ma belle.  ils'ont resté de ses gros orteils  c’est Pour me faire des bouchons de liège, c’est Pour boucher mes demi-bouteilles.  Et mon papa s'en alle mulet,  Et Ma maman s'en allait 'léphant,  Et Mon p'tit frer' sur un ouaouaron, Et ma p'tit' soeur, sur un coin d'mon coeur.     Episode 21 - Tonino & the Fairies

    Hello listeners! We are delighted to bring you this wonderful tale from Granada in Spain! Granada is a beuatiful city at the the foot of the Sierra Nevada. When we visited there, we found it very magical. You can find out more about Granada HERE. We found a version of this folktale in the book Three Golden Oranges and other Spanish Folktales. It's a bit old fashioned about disability so we made some changes to be more sensitive. We hope you like our version. Huge thanks to our friend Maria Gomez-Diez for her help with this lovely story.     Lost Stories - Nasruddin feeds his Coat

    Hey story lovers! While you’re waiting for the next new story, we’ve decided to look back into the archives at some stories that got a bit lost for a while. Every other week, we will be giving these episodes a spot light and calling them 'the lost stories'. Our story is all about the wise fool Nasruddin. He’s a wonderful character whose tales are told all across the Islamic world – India, Pakistan, the middle east, turkey, Afghanistan, even parts of Greece, Albania, Macedonia, Russia, even China. Mullah Nasruddin is sometimes called 'Hodja' – which means master, and his lessons are very interesting. He gets up to all sorts of funny antics, but we also learn that he can be unusually wise.     Episode 19 - Ali Baba & The Forty Thieves Part 1

We are so excited to bring you a two parter from the famous collection: Arabian Nights, also known as ‘The Thousand and One Nights!’ Do you remember the Fisherman and the Genie back in Season one? That’s from the Arabian nights. All the tales are told by the beautiful Sheherazade who tells a story every night for 1001 nights so that her husband, the King, will keep her alive - yikes! Her stories are so entertaining, and she’s so very clever, she leaves them on a bit of a cliff hanger so the King just has to hear how the story ends the next night! And it saves her life. These stories were carried over the ocean by African slaves, and although we might now feel a bit uncomfortable with the voice of Uncle Remus (stories told through a white man's lens) these animal stories are fantastic and need to be celebrated in their own right!
