HOW OUTWARD JOURNEYS ENRICH OUR INNER BEING

"The journey of a thousand miles begins beneath one's feet" -Lao Tzu How can we become more mindful on our life's journey? How can we appreciate our experiences and encounters? How can we enrich our lives with each step along the way? Our path leads us in many directions for personal growth and self-discovery, with beginnings and endings, twists and turns, and opportunities to fulfill our wildest dreams. Milestone makers for action steps taken toward our destiny can bestow deeper insight and wisdom. Whether it's a monumental endeavor or a daily experience as a traveler through life, there is always a chance to get to know ourselves in different ways. Each step is a collection of memorable moments, perceived as pleasant or unpleasant that can transform your life. Ultimately, it is how we contemplate and process our experiences.  As we allow our path to gently unfold, it is essential to listen to our heart for guidance along the way. Oftentimes we do not not take time to process the meaning of our experiences and encounters that are taken for granted. The helping hand, words of wisdom, acts of loving-kindness brighten your day, and the goodness extended to others are profound life-changing moments. The subtleties of life are magnificent moments. Awakening in the morning to the sunrise of a new day and retiring in the evening watching the colorful sunset makes us mindful that the next moment is not promised and to live life to the fullest. Dr. Jean Marie shares highlights of her life-changing transformational journeys to Malaysia, Turkey, Egypt and the Himalayas. The beauty of majestic lands, experiencing and integrating in the cultures, sharing delicious cuisines, melody of languages, songs, dance and profound spiritual experiences that enriched her life.  Despite language barriers, she found that love is the universal language. She captured her transformational journey to Penang, Malaysia by daily journaling that resulted in publishing her first book, The Long Journey Home. Her book proposal was one of 36 global award-winners of the 4th Annual Transformational Authors Experience (TAE) Writing Contest. Outward journeys enrich our inner being by deepening our relationship with ourselves, embracing connections with others, appreciating harmony in nature and recognizing true kinship. Dr. Jean Marie highlights each. Our Love In Action Practice is to be mindful of your daily encounters. Whether in the community on an extended journey, be present with your experiences. What do you see? What do you hear? What do you smell? How do you feel? Be emotionally available in daily interactions and encounters and act in accord with your higher self. Journal on memorable moments. Feel free to share insights and experiences. HOW TO EMBRACE SOLITUDE TO ENRICH YOUR LIFE

"Ordinary men hate solitude. But the master makes use of it, embracing his aloneness, realizing he is one with the whole universe" -Lao Tzu A fundamental apsect of loneliness and is isolation and feeling disconnected from ourselves and others. Whether preempted by such life changing events as death, change in marital status, or geographic move, the feeling of loneliness is part of the human condition. However, prolonged loneliness, separation, and chronic isolation may negatively impact your overall wellbeing. During these challenging times, masses of people are suffering in quiet desparation from lack of intimacy, support and social connection. Even in the midst of being surrounded by others, many still feel distraught with loneliness. These feelings of emptiness and unworthiness can be exasperated by increased anxiety, depression and stress. We have a certain personality image that defines how we see ourselves in the context of our social life that may have to be redefined or reconstructed as a result of significant life changes. For example, a divorced person, now single, may not fit in with the social network of married couples.  The distress and loneliness of a bereaved widow after the loss of a spouse, may have long term effects on overall wellbeing and stability. A retired person may have difficulty building a new life beyond the workplace. Leaving relationships, possessions and familiar places to relocate to a new geographic area can also have a substantial impact on personal and social adjustment. Unhealthy ways of coping with loneliness may result in indulging in addictive behavors and immersing ourselves in meaningless outer distractions that bring temporary and fleeting moments of satisfaction. We have the capacity to reinvent ourselves, experience a renewed self and natural way of being in the world. There is power in aloneness with the oppportunity for solitude to deepen our relationship with ourselves. Aloneness is a state of mind, and our alone time can be a doorway to inner peace, openess to receive divine guidance and to become more content.  We can cultivate aloneness and embrace solitude through self-discovery, conscious personal engagement, being yourself, trusting yourself, and valuing enriching relationships. Dr. Jean Marie highlights each. Our Love In Action Practice practice is to journal on what it feels like to be alone. Pay attention to your thoughts. Take time to be in solitude and discard outer distractions. Rest, relax and renew. Just be. Let thoughts come and go. Be gentle with yourself. Focus your intention on deepening the relationship with your inner self.  Feel free to share your insights and experiences: Email jean72farish@yahoo.com Dr. Jean Marie closes with her excerpt on Self-Rest.

ACCEPTING YOURSELF WITH LOVE AND COMPASSION

How can I recognize when I am not being self-compassionate? What does it look like? What does it feel like? Many of us are open to showing compassion for others, but find it difficult to be compassionate with ourselves. Self-compassion is enfolding ourselves in a blanket of our own love, warmth, and understanding at all times. It is not self-pity, self-centeredness or excessive self-indulgence, but a genuine act of loving ourselves wholeheartedly. Beyond feelings of failure and inadequacy, being self-compassionate relieves us from needless suffering and self-imposed anxiety. It is an empowering self-management tool that enables us to be tolerant, tender and gentle with ourselves. Loving and caring for ourselves strengthens our capacity to serve others.  It is our personal responsibility and paramount to human existence. We can become self-compassionate by knowing our worth, being self-forgiving and affirming self-love. Dr. Jean Marie highlights each. As we wholeheartedly connect with ourselves, we have better relationships with others. As we become self-compassionate, we are more empathic, understanding, and accepting of others. We can discern the balance of giving and receiving by setting healthy boundaries. As Henry Drummond quotes, "Hold things in proper proportion... You will give yourself many things, give yourself first to love". Be gentle with yourself and treat yourself with loving-kindness. Extend the olive branch to yourself. It is your responsibility and the best gift you can give yourself. Our Love In Action Practice is to face yourself wholeheartedly. Journal on qualities you admire about yourself and those that you would like to improve. You can also get feedback from a loyal friend, teacher or family member. Be an astute observer of yourself. Examine your thoughts, feelings and actions. Look in your own eyes with compassion. Face and embrace your whole self. This deepens the connection with your inner self. Reflect your true image of divine love. Feel free to share your insights and observations: Email jean72farish@yahoo.com Dr. Jean Marie closes with her excerpts on Self-Wholeness and Self-Embrace. BEING PRESENT IN SILENCE

"Listen to Silence, it has so much to say" -Rumi "True silence is rest of the mind, and is to the spirit what sleep is to the body, nourishment and refreshment" -William Penn Being present in silence heightens our senses, opens our hearts, and helps us tap into our divine power. This place of solitude gives us stability and clarity. Silence is great strength and enables us to be present, observe fully and attentively. Within infinite silence is an everpresent truth and wisdom where we feel oneness with the universe. It silences the ego, quiets the mind and enables us to connect with our heart and embrace the moment. This shuts down the noise within ourselves and annoying distractions from the outside world.  Silence is also an aspect of self-discipline. The quieter you become the more you hear. It helps us be more compassionate, empathic and in touch with how others are feeling. This improves communication as a better listener without interrupting others. Sometimes silence is even better than words or sometimes you may not be able to find the right words to express how you are feeling or just how to respond to another.  It takes us out of being reactive and saying things we may regret. We can emerge from silence with discernment, confidence and assurance. Master teachers say we are either in love or fear. Silence enables us to tune in to divine love.  As Rumi quotes, "Move outside the tangle of fear-thinking. Live in silence".  Here we can tap into the ingredients of love: Patience, kindness, courtesy, generosity, humility, sincerity, unselfishness, good temper, guilessness.  There is an eloquence and sophistication to being silent. It is a time for gentle self-reflection. The benefits of silence include: Getting to know ourselves, Enriching our relationship with others and Getting to know the world around us. Dr. Jean Marie highlights each. The opportunity for silence is available to you whether momentarily or long periods. Replenish your soul with silence. You can take brief moments during the day to recharge. You will experience the richness and fullness of life. Be aware of how you are using your energy. Preserve your energy with silence. Experience this natural state that is always available for you to access. You will be surprised how being present in silent makes you feel and how it can transform your life. Our Love In Action Practice is each day give yourself time to be silent. Set your intention to be present. Let go of past and future worries. Breathe deeply and rest in silence. Feel the peace of silence. How are you more alive and awake in the present moment? Tune in to your inner self. Relax and be at ease. This is self care.  Feel free to share your insights and experience: Email  jean72farish@yahoo.com Dr. Jean Marie closes with her excerpts on Self-Rest and Self-Presence.

HOW TO LISTEN TO THE INNER VOICE OF LOVE

Every moment of the day we are making choices and decisions. Sometimes with struggle, confusion and doubt. When we are anchored in love and open our hearts, a wellspring of wisdom emerges. Intuition is seeing with the senses of the soul. It brings insight and knowing beyond the limitation of the mind. It brings forth what is true with great clarity. If only we listen! I know this to be rue and regard it as the quiet power within. The voice of love is always speaking. Do we really hear? It comes to us in many forms such as a gut feeling, quiet whisper, repeated messages, signs and synchronicities. As said by masters, we are spiritual beings having a human experience. We are love, and love is our natural state of being. When we anchor in the power of love, we become our authentic selves and experience the freedom to express ourselves in the world. Mired in fear, we resort to external solutions that leave us distraught with much uncertainty on our life's journey. Listenting to the voice of love takes practice. It is the carte blanche to true freedom and always there for us to access. Hear the voice of love and invite intuition into your life through down time, soulful engagement, authentic writing, creative inspiration and unwavering trust. Dr. Jean Marie highlights each. FINDING INNER PEACE

Dr. Jean Marie opens with a LOVE LIGHT Meditation. We are constantly bombarded with outside forces that disrupt our peace. Whether it's a series of events, behavior of others, or our own life challenges, we feel tired, emotionally exhausted, and at risk of losing ourselves in chaos and drama. How do we get to a place of peace? A powerful quote by Saint Francis de Sales reminds us of our responsibility to preserve our peace, "Never be in a hurry, do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset". This is a tall order but central to our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Reclaim your power and return to your natural state of peace, love and joy by: Getting quiet, Setting your intention for peace, Moving into Stillness, Anchoring in divine love, and Dwelling in peace. Dr. Jean Marie highlights each. Life is your epic journey. How will you choose to travel? Inner peace brings so many positive emotions and rewards. It is not escaping from problems but gives us clarity, understanding and coruage to gain a new perspective. It enables us to accept life as it comes, engage in authentic self-expression and fully participate in all facets of life. From a peaceful heart free of anxiety, confusion and worry, divine love flows. There is victory in peace and we should aim for this in all life circumstances with the realization that all is happening for our own spiritual evolution. Make peace with yourself and you will make peace with all that manifests in your life. Be grateful and know all is well! Our Love In Action Practice is to take time to free yourself from external noise and distractions. Take time to be at peace with yourself. WHY YOU MUST LEARN TO FLOW LIKE THE RIVER TO FLOURISH IN LIFE

There's a river in each of us that knows no boundaries. The image of water provides an outward reflection of our inner self. Like the surging power of a rapidly flowing river, life can be unpredictable without knowing where it may lead. However, we have the innate capacity to navigate change with grace and ease. This requires faith and trust in ourselves and knowing that we are on the right path for forwarding movement. The sustainer of life, water is a gift of nature that nourishes our entire well being. Associated with qualities of ever-changing emotions, feelings and intutition, going inward we can connect to our true selves and embrace change. Marked by ancient and traditional ceremonies around the world and integrated with other forms of healing, meditations and blessings, our sacred connection to water nurtures our collective spirit. Water inititation rituals support our life's journey by surrendering to what we do not know and taking us just where we need to be. During the time spent in the Himalayas, immersed in nature and surrounded by breathtaking views, majestic mountains, pristine rivers and waterfalls, my mind, body and soul were refereshed. Keenly observing the rivers flowing downstream, gently washing over obstacles and meandering around rocks embedded in the stream, nothing stopped the natural flow. Taking time for journaling and self-reflection, I became one with the river and felt a profound sense of serentity. When we are out of the flow, we feel dammed up, stagnant, and out of balance resulting in stress and anxiety. When we are in sync, like the flow of the river, we trust our decisions and know that we are divinely guided. Water consciousness has a deep symbolic meaning that shows us the dynamic fludidity of nature moving through cycles, rhythms, and patterns representing change and transformation. Connect with the sacred flow of the river to be healthier, happier and more creative. Flourish like the river to achieve clarity, patience, freedom, goodness, and endurance as you move forward on your path to achieve the life you desire. Dr. Jean Marie highlights each. Our Love In Action practice is twofold. Reflect and journal on challenges you faced and overcame. What did you learn? How did you grow? What was the outcome. How are you all the better for it. Build on the lessons and the blessings. Next, reflect and journal on what you are trying to hold on to and control that you need to let go. Why are you holding on? How can you love yourself more, surrender and release the reins of control? Feel free to share your insights and experiences: Email: jean72farish@yahoo.com Dr. Jean Marie closes with her excerpts on Self-Flourish and Divine Flow.
