    Tara Perry grew up in Texas with her father out of the picture, raised by her mother and grandparents in a family where functioning addiction was just part of daily life — which is how she first got exposed to meth as a teenager and started using at just 13 years old.     Kent McGowen grew up in Texas in a good family with a father in the oil business and a brother who became a cop — served honorably in the United States Air Force became a Houston police officer and eventually became a sheriff's deputy in Harris County.
