    Anna Maxwell Martin, actor

Anna Maxwell Martin is an award-winning actor whose versatility is evident from the breadth of parts she has played in popular television programmes including Motherland, Ludwig and Line of Duty. Anna was born and brought up in Yorkshire and loved acting and performing from a young age putting on shows with her friends in the cul-de-sac where they all lived. She read history at Liverpool University and then won a place at LAMDA. She made her professional debut in the Little Foxes at the Donmar Warehouse directed by Marianne Elliott. Her breakthrough came in 2003 playing Lyra Belacqua in the National Theatre’s landmark production of His Dark Materials. In recent years she has become an advocate for vulnerable children and their families – especially those navigating the SEND – special educational needs and/or disabilities – system in schools. Coleen's Rarely Seen Son: Rixton’s Jake Roche on Fame, Failure & Family Secrets

Coleen is joined by a very special guest this week. After his barnstorming first appearance, her “rarely seen son” Jake Roche is back! With cows on the train line causing chaos, Shane and Ciara didn’t even make it to the first recording of the day, which was due to feature another very special guest. They only finally make it halfway through Jake’s chat, but we didn't edit that out - as that’s what we love about this podcast: the full, unvarnished and unpredictable truth! When the interview finally gets underway, Jake is brutally honest about his journey from Rixton’s global success with “Me and My Broken Heart” to the reality of losing fame and reinventing himself. Oh and how much the time the siblings have spent winding each other up over the years... Including an incident with a sausage and a wedding... Comment below on any guests you'd like us to get on in the coming weeks! We love hearing from you. Please do subscribe so you never miss an episode. Learn more about your ad choices. He Owned A Haunted Nightclub

Stories of real paranormal activity. Strange footsteps in an old family home, smoke alarms go off without batteries, and a farmhouse where unseen children may still be playing. We also hear about a ghostly figure in a rocking chair, and an encounter in a garage that seemed to open the door to something paranormal. Also featured is the story of a haunted nightclub in Georgia, where an owner experienced strange voices, shadow figures, disturbing EVPs, and a dark presence that seemed tied to the building itself. Stacey Duguid on coming back from midlife collapse - THE SHIFT REVISITED

Ever since I wrote about Stacey Duguid's campaign to shine a light on women's midlife career crisis loads of you have messaged me to say, 'Get her on the podcast!' Well, I have news for you - Stacey has been on the podcast! She first shared her midlife experience with me in September 2023, but now she's made it her mission to life the lid on the secret midlife career shame so many of us are suffering it felt like the right time to revisit our conversation. This is not about the unfolding career crisis but I think there's so much here that will resonate with you. Here it is... Before I got to know today’s guest, Stacey Duguid, I thought she was a bit scary TBH. Fierce in all the ways. And then I got to know her - when I was editor of Red and she worked on Elle - and discovered she wasn’t. At all. Because Stacey, like so many of us, is just exceptionally good at putting on a front. And that front served her well, until it didn’t. She was 45 when everything collapsed. Or, more accurately, she put a grenade under it. The thing she’d been trained to want ever since she was tiny: the house, the husband, the children, the career, the happy ever after. All blown to smithereens.  Now 49, a single mum and a successful journalist, very much back from the brink, Stacey has written In Pursuit of Happiness, the most brilliant book about a midlife collapse and ultimately recovery. I know you are going to love it. As candid in person as she is in print, Stacey talks frankly about the pain of divorce, searching for a self you’ve never met, self-blame, “hotness syndrome”, perimenopause mayhem (and I mean MAYHEM), making peace with her mother, rediscovering her creativity, midlife sexuality and… toyboywarehouse.com. * You can buy all the books mentioned in this podcast at The Shift bookshop on Bookshop.org, including In Pursuit of Happiness by Stacey Duguid, and the book that inspired this podcast, The Shift: how I lost and found myself after 40 - and you can too, by me. * And if you'd like to support the work that goes into making this podcast and get a weekly newsletter plus loads more content including exclusive transcripts of the podcast, why not join The Shift community, come and have a look around at www.theshiftwithsambaker.substack.com • The Shift (on life after 40) with Sam Baker is created and hosted by Sam Baker and edited by Juliette Nicholls @ Pineapple Audio Production. Desiree Burch: Corsets and Crystals

Moving away from the country you grew up in can be both tough and full of joy. In this episode, comedian Desiree Burch and professional organiser Dilly Carter reflect on where it truly feels like home. Taskmaster and Live at the Apollo star Desiree brings in three items for Dilly to unpack, which reveal Desiree’s previous career as a dominatrix(!), the thing that Desiree has far too much of and how her childhood home has affected how she lives now. And we hear why Desiree ranks herself a one out of ten when it comes to organisation! This episode is full of tips to help you sort our own life out including how to stop overbuying, how to honour treasured clothes, and how we can reflect on our relationship to stuff in order to change our habits. Desiree was ready to sort her life out, but can Dilly be the divine intervention that she wants? Sort Your Life Out Unpacked is hosted by tidying expert Dilly Carter. In each episode, Dilly chats to a celebrity guest and unboxes three mystery objects from their home that reveal what is really important to them. At the end, Dilly asks her guest whether they are going to keep, donate or recycle any of the items and, along the way, we learn how to organise and sort our own lives out.
