Episode 80 - The Beast of the A1075

A lonely road cuts through the darkened landscapes of East Anglia, passing heathland, forest, ancient trackways and places long associated with folklore. But along the A1075, witnesses have reported something far stranger than shadows at the roadside. In this atmospheric investigation, Haunted UK Podcast travels into the eerie borderlands of Norfolk and Suffolk to explore a series of unsettling encounters with large, hair-covered creatures seen near Thetford Forest, Wayland Wood, Peddars Way and the surrounding countryside. From a towering ape-like figure said to have drifted across the road in front of a startled driver, to reports of grey, long-snouted beasts, silent woodland apparitions, and a possible encounter with the legendary Black Shuck, these accounts form a strange and persistent pattern across decades. Rooted in local history, ancient routes, East Anglian folklore and modern witness testimony, this episode examines the stories of those who saw something they could not easily explain - and the lasting fear, confusion and fascination that followed. Featuring research compiled by Edward Oliver, with witness reports edited and inserted by Lucy Spirit, these accounts are presented with permission on behalf of those who came forward to share their experiences. Whether these sightings are misidentified animals, the influence of folklore on lonely night journeys, or something more difficult to define, the mystery of the Beast of the A1075 remains one of East Anglia’s most intriguing roadside legends. Patricia Heaton: I Had to Join Hollywood’s Secret Network

Patricia Heaton says Hollywood became so hostile to dissent that she helped build a private network of 2,000–3,000 insiders - before the IRS asked for its members’ names. In this Heretics interview, the Everybody Loves Raymond and The Middle star tells Andrew Gold why “Hollywood’s dead”—and what changed inside its comedy writers’ rooms. Patricia reveals how a small gathering involving Gary Sinise, Kelsey Grammer, Jon Voight and Ben Shapiro grew into Friends of Abe, Hollywood’s secret community for conservatives, libertarians and independent thinkers. Follow Patricia on X here: https://x.com/PatriciaHeaton And on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/patriciaheaton Andrew first heard Patricia Heaton discuss Hollywood’s writers’ rooms with Dave Rubin on The Rubin Report. Here, they go further: from jokes being rejected as offensive and diversity requirements affecting hiring to Patricia’s Catholic faith, her pro-life beliefs and the people who allegedly refused to work with her. Patricia also challenges Andrew’s atheism before they debate October 7, Israel, antisemitism, Hollywood activism, radical Islam, immigration and the political future of America. Can Hollywood ever produce another timeless sitcom like Everybody Loves Raymond—or has fear permanently changed comedy? Subscribe to Heretics for more honest conversations with the insiders, survivors and dissidents challenging powerful institutions. A religion scholar spent years studying near death experiences and old church doctrines. Then aerospace insiders started emailing her university account, asking for her research on angels. She treated them like any other academic contact and shared her sources. What she didn't expect was how far that relationship would go, or who was really behind it. Her own family carries a stranger history than she ever brought into a classroom. A Coast Guard cutter that stopped dead in freezing water. A mountain her grandfather swore hid something else. • The Coroners Question

    The Coroners Question

Coroners are called to investigate sudden, unexpected and violent deaths. In the more complex cases, they open an inquest. The BBC's social affairs correspondent Michael Buchanan has seen many coroners in action and reported from many inquests. For this programme we follow the inquest of Daniel Lindsay, who died in 2023 aged 41 in a Surrey care home, as we ask wider questions about coroners courts in England and Wales. Are they operating as well as they could and are there ways they could be better? We discuss claims the system is ‘chronically under-funded’, even 'broken'. We ask why there is such variation and inconsistency between different coroners – a so-called ‘postcode lottery'. We hear from Daniel Lindsay’s cousins as we explore what it is like for a bereaved family to go through an inquest and ask whether the interests of relatives should be given a higher priority. The Chief Coroner in England and Wales Alexia Durran responds to concerns and explains what she is doing to make the service more responsive and accountable. Details of advice and support with bereavement, or end of life care are available at bbc.co.uk/actionline. Producer: Leela Padmanabhan Sound design: Hal Haines

Chani Nicholas: Astrology Beyond the Horoscope | Talk Tracks

Astrology is often reduced to sun signs and daily horoscopes, but its history and practice go far deeper. In this episode, Ky sits down with New York Times bestselling author and astrologer Chani Nicholas for a wide-ranging exploration of what astrology actually is, where it comes from, and how it has been used across centuries. Chani breaks down the basics of a birth chart, rising signs, houses, planets, and timing techniques, while tracing astrology back to ancient systems of observing patterns between the sky and life on Earth. Together they explore fate versus free will, astrology as a tool for self-understanding and purpose, and the idea that the movements of the cosmos may reflect patterns unfolding within a larger, interconnected reality. Chani explains the major astrological shifts happening now and what previous cycles might suggest about the moment we’re living through. Whether you’re deeply versed in astrology or have never looked beyond your sun sign, this conversation offers a fascinating introduction to the history, philosophy, and practice behind one of humanity’s oldest systems for making meaning of the sky. _______ Explore Chani's book, You Were Born for This: Astrology for Radical Self-Acceptance.
