    Take Back the Pen

“Choose yourself over certainty.” This episode is the final part of The Self-Authored Woman, a three-part series for women in midlife who are ready to trust themselves, expand what is possible, and choose what comes next. In Part 1, we explored the life you’ve built and the inner voice asking for more. In Part 2, we looked at the inherited stories, roles, and expectations that may no longer serve who you are becoming. In this final conversation, Kena explores what it means to take back the pen. Self-authorship is the shift from being externally defined to being internally guided. It is the practice of building your own internal compass, listening to what you know, and choosing how you want to live, lead, create, and relate from here. This is also the work we continue inside Supernova, a membership community for women in midlife who are ready to stop moving through this chapter alone. Inside Supernova, we explore identity, purpose, relationships, leadership, wellbeing, creativity, and what it means to step into a more expansive next chapter - together. If this series has been speaking to something in you, I’d love to invite you to join us. Explore Supernova 🗝️ https://yoursupernova.ca This episode is an invitation to stop waiting for perfect conditions before you move. To trust what feels true. To let your desires matter. To choose yourself even when the path ahead is uncertain. Kena also shares why environment matters so deeply, and why becoming a more self-trusting, expansive, courageous version of yourself is harder in spaces that keep reinforcing who you used to be. Because self-authorship may begin within you, but it is strengthened through support, sisterhood, and being witnessed by women who see what is possible for you. Inside the episode: • What self-authorship really means • How to move from external approval to internal guidance • Why the small choices you make each day are part of writing your life • How to choose yourself before conditions are perfect • Why the unknown can hold magic, not only fear • The role of community, environment, and support in becoming who you truly are • Why the women around us shape what we believe is possible Reflection questions: Who am I when I am no longer responding to who the world told me to be? What feels true for me now that I may have ignored before? What would change if I trusted myself more deeply? What desires am I ready to stop apologizing for? What do I know now? How am I going to choose differently? Links & Invitations Explore Supernova 🗝️ https://yoursupernova.ca Connect on Instagram 🗝️ https://www.instagram.com/kena_supernova/

The Stories You Inherited Are Not the Whole Truth

“We become incredibly skilled at being who we need to be, instead of who we came here to be.” This episode is part two of The Self-Authored Woman, a three-part series for women in midlife who are beginning to question the paths, roles, and expectations they have inherited. In this conversation, Kena explores the stories that shape us: the identities we learned to carry, the behaviours that earned approval, and the parts of ourselves we may have minimized in order to belong, be loved, be accepted, or keep everything together. So many women arrive at midlife having become the capable one, the selfless one, the agreeable one, the productive one, or the emotional caretaker. These roles may have helped us survive, succeed, and find our way, but at some point we get to ask: are they still serving who we are becoming? This episode is an invitation to begin untangling your true essence from the coping strategies, conditioning, and inherited stories you have carried for years. Inside the episode: • The roles and expectations women inherit • How approval, perfectionism, caretaking, and over-functioning shape identity • The difference between your true self and the coping strategies you adopted • Why midlife is a powerful time to reclaim diminished parts of yourself • Five shifts for this next chapter: self-trust, depth, sisterhood, expansion, and legacy Reflection questions: What role have I played for most of my life? What parts of myself have I been minimizing? What would it feel like to claim those parts of myself again? What part of me is asking to emerge more fully in this chapter? The Life You Built Is Not the Whole Story: A conversation on self-authorship, midlife, and the inner voice asking for more.

The Life You Built Is Not the Whole Story “No one is going to stop you and ask: what do you really want? What is your soul’s desire? Is this path working for you? We need to do that for ourselves.” This episode is part one of The Self-Authored Woman, a three-part series for women in midlife who are beginning to ask deeper questions about who they are now and what wants to emerge next. At this stage of life, many women find themselves looking around at the life they have built - the work, the relationships, the responsibilities, the accomplishments, the identity they have carried for years - and sensing that there is more to the story. In this opening episode, Kena invites you to pause and look honestly at your life as it is today. What feels meaningful? What feels rich and good? What have you created, survived, navigated, or become that you may not acknowledge often enough? And alongside that gratitude, what questions have been rising beneath the surface? Kena shares more of her own journey through achievement, grief, caregiving, motherhood, reinvention, healing, and the inner voice that kept reminding her there was more available. She explores the difference between external success and a life that feels deeply your own, and why listening to the voice within you may be one of the most important commitments you ever make. This conversation also introduces three thresholds many women move through in midlife: reawakening, reinvention, and expansion. You may be feeling a sense that something needs to change. You may be moving through a life transition that is reshaping your identity. You may already know your purpose and be ready to step into greater visibility, leadership, expression, and impact. Wherever you are, this episode is an invitation to stop moving so quickly past your own knowing. To create space. To listen more honestly. To begin trusting the questions that are asking for your attention. Because the life you built matters. And it is not the whole story. Inside the episode: • Why midlife often brings deeper questions about identity, purpose, desire, and what comes next • How to honour the life you’ve built while making room for what wants to emerge • The difference between external success and a life that feels deeply your own • Why your inner voice deserves your attention and respect • The three thresholds of self-authorship: reawakening, reinvention, and expansion • Why women need spaces where they can be witnessed, reflected, and reminded they are not alone • How spaciousness helps your deeper truth come forward Reflection questions from this episode: What about my life feels deeply good to me right now? What have I been pretending not to know? What would I allow myself to want if I trusted that it was available to me? What might become possible if I stopped abandoning my own inner voice? "I Thought I’d Be Further Along By Now"

“We’re not actually starting from zero. We’re starting from a place that is deeply resourced.” In this episode, Kena invites you into a reflection on timelines, self-trust, and what it really means to build a life and work that’s your own. There comes a point where you look at your life or your work and think: I really thought I’d be further along by now. But where did that timeline come from? Kena shares her own journey after leaving her corporate career - the expectations she had, how things actually unfolded, and the decision to keep going even when the path felt unclear. She explores how many of the timelines we hold ourselves to aren’t consciously chosen, but inherited. And how midlife offers an opportunity to step out of those patterns and begin again-this time from a place of wisdom, experience, and inner guidance. This episode is also an invitation to shift how you think about acceptance. Not just accepting what’s hard - but fully receiving everything you already are and everything you already have, and allowing that to become the foundation for what comes next. This episode is an invitation to consider: What if you’re not behind… but being asked to build and create differently? And are you willing to keep going, even when it’s not unfolding the way you expected? Between Guidance and Self-Trust: Returning to Your Own Voice

"The most aligned support doesn’t replace your voice - it strengthens it.” - Kena In this episode, Kena invites you into a reflection on self-trust, inner knowing, and the subtle ways we begin to outsource our power. We live in a time where there is no shortage of guidance - podcasts, books, mentors, conversations - and while so much of it can be expansive, it can also pull us away from our own voice. There’s a moment many women experience where they realize they’ve been looking outward before ever checking in within. Not because they don’t have the answers… but because they’ve stopped trusting that they do. Kena explores the tension between receiving support and staying connected to yourself - when guidance opens something up within you, and when it begins to override what you already know. She shares her own experience of navigating this balance, the pull to seek perspective from others, and the intentional invitation to come back into relationship with your own voice. This episode is an invitation to consider: What would shift if you trusted yourself first? And, where does support and guidance belong in your life?
