On Monday’s episode, I was joined by voice over artist, singer, speaker and performance coach, Elisabeth Valentine. She emphasised the benefits of authors narrating their own books and provided tips for anyone looking to record their first audiobook.

Should you turn your book into an audiobook?
Audiobooks have seen a massive rise in popularity over recent years, with many people opting to listen rather than read. But have you ever thought about publishing an audiobook yourself?
In a previous episode of Beyond the Bio, Marianne Page spoke about how she’d published an audio version of her book. This led me to think about the importance of audiobooks in today’s publishing world, and how they can be such a benefit to your audience. To chat about this, I invited Elisabeth Valentine on to tell us all about audiobooks.
Elisabeth is a voice over artist, singer, speaker and performance coach. She has been a professional performer since the age of 8, and lends her voice, expertise and coaching to some of the biggest brands in the world like Disney, Apple, Netflix, Just Eat and more. Elisabeth coaches people on their public speaking, pitching, presentation and networking skills, so they can confidently make the biggest positive impact on the world.
In this conversation, Elisabeth discusses the importance of audiobooks for authors, the rise in audiobook consumption, and the process of recording an audiobook. She emphasises the benefits of authors narrating their own books and provides tips for anyone looking to record their own.
