In 1985, two Grateful Dead fans were brutally murdered. For the last three decades, rumors have circled around the Dead community that the wrong man was put in prison for it. One of the most iconic bands in American history, “The Dead” as they are affectionately called by their fans—self proclaimed "Dead Heads”—have been dogged by a darkness that has followed them since its inception. Despite the Grateful Dead’s ethos of peace and love and communal music, this darkness has led to the murder and the disappearance of some of the band’s most dedicated fans. Hosted by popular podcasters Payne Lindsey of Up and Vanished and Jake Brennan of Disgraceland, this podcast combines the distinct storytelling styles of both Payne's investigative style and Jake’s single-voice narrative style. Introducing "To Live and Die in LA" Season 2

What would you do if someone went missing in your neighborhood? When Elaine Park, a twenty-year-old college student and aspiring artist, disappeared in host Neil Strauss’s neighborhood of Malibu, California, he decided to use his experience as a reporter to help. Forming an unlikely investigative team with his wife and concerned neighbors, they used their resources to raise a reward, spread awareness, and investigate the parties that many believe were responsible. To Live and Die in LA returns for season 2.

Listened to every second!

Great podcast, mr J.Brennan spoke a little fast and long for me but in some ways added great depth to the backstory of the grateful dead. With that said this podcast is definitely worth a listen, or in my case binge.

Learned a lot, not surprised about the outcome - terrible. I truly hope this brings some new light to the case and if there are any updates on it please do a bonus episode 🖤

Intriguing

As a fan of investigative podcasts I was intrigued as to whether I would enjoy this not knowing anything at all about The Grateful Dead. I listened to the first episode and now I’m hooked!

Radio Rental sent me, and I dead grateful they sent me (see what I did there?)

Jesus.... shut up!

I am a big fan of Payne’s work, and this story is again one of interest and the investigative work is good and so is the storytelling. However, the other guy involved in this truly ruins everything and his boring long rants on god knows what ruins it all, and totally breaks the fluidity.. he adds absolutely nothing and clearly loves the sound of his own voice. Bin him off for anything in the future..
