I’ve followed James Blatch for several years, bought his courses and always viewed him as an authoritative voice for indie publishing.
But I’m very concerned about his comment suggesting there is an underlying race issue about the book that was pulled by Hachette for AI content.
Is there a race element to this? Is there anything to support the accusation that this was racism?
There appears little else at this point to suggest this is nothing more than an author being criticised by a reader. If there is anything to back up this serious allegation… even the slightest suggestion of race issue by an elderly white man on a black female then let us hear it.
Let’s call it out if it exists and get 100% behind a full investigation and aim for total justice for the victim.
However, if this is purely conjecture then all you’ve done is totally let yourself down, James! (Why not go a little further and suggest misogyny? Or doesn’t that fit the current wokish trend you’re looking for?)
And to quote your own words on this subject, you ought to be ‘damn bloody sure’ you have something to base your allegation on.
Well, do you?
This is a very serious slur, and if there is no evidence to back up your ‘inference’ that there is in fact an underlying race issue… you have achieved nothing here but totally let yourself down!
Very disappointing.
