These series of interviews are Stardust and Golden to paraphrase another great artist. Matt’s interview technique is so perfect. Robert and he come across almost like co-conspirators, as they unpack the history of the songs or the genesis of how they come together. The most enlightening thing for me is how many of them are cover versions. In these days of digital downloads we don’t always have sleeve notes to plough through. I have come to a position these days were I just listen to Robert’s music. Unless he sings something that is obviously a cover, like “Bluebirds Over The Mountain” (Which I first heard Te Beach Boys cover in the seventies) I sometimes miss that Robert hasn’t written the song. This is mostly due to the way Robert does his own interpretation. A short review would simply be, These podcasts are Robert Plant fan’s dream. I just wish the episodes were longer.
