TRAP: The Real Adviser Podcast

I cannot speak highly enough of this podcast and I feel I owe a debt of gratitude to all 4 of these chaps. I’ve been an Ifa since 2009 and have worked my way up to develop a wonderful book of clients but this increasingly came at the expense of my free time with long hours working in evenings and weekends a frequent occurrence. In May 2024 along with a colleague we took over the existing firm via an MBO and it’s been an enormous task. It was around this time I discovered TRAP and I have now devoured every episode. The insights and clarity of thought of Nick, Alan, Carl and Andy has been invaluable in allowing me to reassess both how I work and with whom I work. I have a long way to go but listening to you guys has really galvanised me at a time I really needed it so a huge thank you and I hope to meet you all soon and buy you a beer. As a regular listener of The Real Adviser Podcast, I love the format, the stories, the insights, the banter and even Nick’s sound effects! Your interview with YouTuber James Shack in episode 57 was eye-opening not only in hearing about the incredible success he’s achieved in building his business and attracting new clients but the simple way he’s packaged up and showcased his expertise. It was amazing. Congratulations Trap Pack for building such an indispensable resource for both seasoned and aspiring financial advisers. 6 out of 5 stars - keep up the fantastic work!

Having left a large national restricted advice firm to set up a new IFA business I have found this podcast a complete godsend! I have leant and implemented so much from what I have heard on here and the fact that our fledgling business survived the first 12 months and is now thriving is no small part down to these 4 splendid chaps (and Nicks awesome google group)! An absolute must for any adviser no matter the stage in their career! Even got to meet Andy and Alan today at HUM disproving the adage on never meet your hero’s 😉

On the whole a great podcast which has been great for our profession. I wonder if the format could be tweaked with the occasional guest coming on. After 50 odd episodes content is still decent and relevant.
