12 Years in Secret Relationships With Women — Then One Question From a Man Changed Everything | EP 28

Kimberly Zember Links: Website: https://boldlybeloved.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kimzember/?hl=en Youtube: https://studio.youtube.com/channel/UCGwSoFrAo2NxURhsOoJGi4A   Today in the studio I have my new friend and fellow podcast host, Kim Zember, who spent twelve years in the lesbian lifestyle before God set her free, almost twelve years ago now. Before any of that, Kim was the youngest realtor in California at just 18 years old, and went on to build a genuinely successful real estate career, before God moved her all the way to Ethiopia. Kim grew up in a Christian home with parents who truly loved the Lord, but somewhere along the way she built a warped picture of God as a cop, watching and waiting for her to mess up rather than a father who wanted to help her in her weakness. That image, combined with a sex talk from her dad warning her that "all men are dogs," quietly shaped a heart that didn't trust men even while being attracted to them. Kim has written all of this down in her book, "Restless Heart: My Struggle With Life and Sexuality," available on Amazon, but today she walks us through it in her own words. Kim takes us back to her senior year of high school in 2002, when a culture of "everybody's sinning anyway" talked her into kissing her best friend, a decision she says changed everything the moment it happened, even though in the moment it felt like nothing. That one relationship ended almost as fast as it started, but it opened a door Kim couldn't close, and for the next twelve years she moved from woman to woman, always in secret, always behind the scenes, while outwardly dating men, including professional athletes, to keep the cover. At the same time, she was building an entire other life, the youngest realtor in California, buying an Escalade and her first house in cash by 19, living what she describes as "the high life," all while a double life ran quietly underneath it, hidden even from her own mother, who suspected something but was gently told not to go there. The turning point came from an unexpected place, a genuinely good man who told Kim he loved her and, when she pushed back and demanded to know why, told her, "if you want to know your heart, you have to ask God." That one sentence sent Kim into her room that night praying the exact words, "God, show me my heart," and what came back was a memory she had completely forgotten, a childhood desire from fourth or fifth grade to go to Africa, a memory her own mother confirmed had actually happened. Within weeks Kim sold her house, her Escalade, everything she owned, and moved to Ethiopia at 23, with no mission organization, no plan, and no idea what she was doing, only to have her heart fully undone by a little barefoot girl on the streets there, an encounter God used on the flight home to begin pulling Kim's eyes off herself for the first time. It's a powerful, honest conversation, and this is only part one, Kim and I pick back up soon to talk about what happened when she came home, got engaged, and made a promise to God the night before her wedding that she had no strength of her own to keep. Pam W. Vredevelt - "Feeling Is Healing": The 4-Step Framework for Grief That Actually Works | EP 27

Get her book today: https://a.co/d/0dGRNkO5 Connect with Pam: https://www.mendingmiracles.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/authorpamvredevelt Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/supportmendingmiracles LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/pam-vredevelt-96a1b539 I'm so honored today to sit down with my new friend Pam, a best-selling author, speaker, and counselor who has walked through losing a baby to miscarriage and, later, losing her son at 16 years old. Her new book, Mending Miracles, is part of why I had to get her on this show. Pam takes us back to where it started, finishing graduate school, pregnant, walking into a routine five-month checkup in her new maternity dress, when the doctor couldn't find a heartbeat. Within 48 hours she was in labor and delivery, and she left the hospital with empty arms, a stack of bills, and a broken heart, still believing God was good, but completely confused about how he could let it happen. Two weeks later, swimming laps and praying through her tears, Pam saw a picture of a book in her mind, and when she brought the idea to a friend who was a published author, that friend told her flatly, "I want the first three chapters on my desk by Monday." It was Friday. Pam cried her way through that handwritten weekend, not realizing she was doing the very thing neuroscience now proves accelerates healing, writing your story and connecting the facts to the feelings, exactly what David did raw and uncensored in the Psalms. A few months later, three publishers wanted it. That book, Empty Arms, landed in her hands in the most redemptive way possible, her editor delivered a hot-off-the-press copy to her hospital room the day she gave birth to her daughter Jesse, two years after the loss, saying, "No more empty arms." We talk about how common this actually is, roughly one in four women experience miscarriage, stillbirth, or a tubal pregnancy, and the numbers have only climbed since 2020, yet it's one of the griefs our culture still won't talk about out loud. Pam, now the author of 16 books, shares the biggest misconception she sees in her counseling practice, that grief just fades if you stay busy and positive and never speak of it. She tells the story of a client who buried the grief of a stillborn baby for 14 years after her husband couldn't handle it and left the hospital, only for that exact pain to resurface as fresh as the day it happened the moment she finally had a safe place to talk about it. We go into what the neuroscience now shows, that unresolved grief and trauma don't just stay buried, they can actually get passed down to your children at a genetic level. Pam closes with a simple acrostic she loves, H-O-W, honest, open, and willing, which she calls the "how" of any real transformation. We're already looking forward to part two, where Pam opens up about the hardest story yet, losing her son Nathan at 16. Please subscribe, share, and leave a comment on how this episode spoke to you. How I Forgave the Father Who Tried to Destroy My Life | EP 25

Naomi Van Wyk Links: Website: naomivanwyk.com Instagram: @naomivwofficial Shop: naomivanwyk.com/pages/shop I'm the oldest of nine kids, raised in a homeschool family where my dad was a pastor. We moved all over the country and I thought I had the perfect little life, it was just a lot of religion. Then when I was twelve, a girl at church had a crush on me, and my dad spoke something over me that I didn't even understand at the time, he told me this "lesbian thing" was going to be what the enemy used to try to destroy my life. I had no idea what he meant. But from that moment on, girls kept pursuing me, and at twenty I finally gave in to a relationship with my female boss. We bought a home together. We adopted a cat and a dog. We were on the path to marriage. I call it now what it really was, a counterfeit love that filled the exact wounds my dad's rejection had left in me, but it was never the love of the Lord. I share in this episode the night I stood in my kitchen trying to rip a dish towel in two and told the Lord, "I love this woman, but I cannot stay with her." Walking away took a year and a half of two steps forward, two steps back, and once I was finally out, the guilt nearly buried me. I felt dirty, filthy, like no husband would ever want me and my whole future was ruined. So every morning at 4am, in a little guest house in Studio City, I would drag myself out of bed and kneel at the foot of the cross in prayer, picturing the blood of Jesus dripping down and cleansing me. I learned something there that I don't think enough people talk about, being forgiven for your sin and forgiving yourself for your sin are two completely different battles, and only one of them happens the moment you repent. The harder forgiveness came later, forgiving my own father, a man who kept trying to sabotage my life for years afterward, even following me to churches to get me kicked out. One morning at the foot of the cross, God did something I never expected, he let me feel his own heart breaking for my dad's soul, and I found myself weeping for the very man who hurt me the most. I want to be honest with you, forgiveness was not a one-time decision for me, it's a choice I still have to make some days, because I can't manufacture that kind of love on my own, it only comes through the blood of the cross. If you're carrying guilt you think is unforgivable, or bitterness toward someone who may never say sorry, I hope my story shows you there's freedom on the other side. Holy Hormones: A Christian Doctor's Root-Cause Approach to Women's Health | EP 24

Connect with Dr. Kimber: https://consultation.lifetimeremedy.com/home-page Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drkimberkrosschell/ Our first show together went by way too fast, so I'm thrilled to have her back to keep digging into how God made our bodies to thrive so we can walk out the calling he has for us. We start by revisiting one of the biggest nuggets from part one, that busyness is a libido killer, before I ask Dr. Kimber the question I've been sitting with: what has surprised her most about women's health in scripture? Her answer is simply that it's there, and she walks me through it, from the Proverbs 31 woman as a picture of balanced hormones, to the Shulamite woman in Song of Solomon, to the woman who bled for twelve years and was healed the moment she reached out in faith and touched the hem of Christ. From there we go deep on how faith and emotion actually affect our physical health. Dr. Kimber explains that anger rests in the liver and fear rests in the lungs, and how she gently helps her patients sit with the Lord to identify what they're really holding onto before it shows up as a physical symptom. We talk about journaling, even if it's just a note on your phone, and the fascinating research showing gratitude actually builds the mitochondria of the cell, proof that science really is catching up to scripture. Dr. Kimber also opens up about her upcoming book, which weaves nearly a hundred scriptures into the science of women's health, and about staying tuned to the Holy Spirit's voice in the middle of a patient appointment. We close out with a ton of practical tips: why Dr. Kimber tells people to eat God's food instead of man's food, her hilarious "brown plate" moment feeding her grandkids, and an explanation of the foundational medicine approach she practices, which digs all the way down to the cellular root cause instead of just treating symptoms. She shares her favorite liver-supporting habits, beets, lemon water, castor oil packs, and dandelion tea, along with her simple three hinge theory for a healthy life: eat God's food, cut down on toxins and plastics, and spend quiet time with the Lord every morning. We wrap up talking about the legacy Dr. Kimber wants to leave and how her book, Holy Hormones, and her Holy Hormones events can bring all of this into your own church or circle. Sonogram told her parents she was a boy & childhood memory of mol*station she had buried for decades | EP 23

Connect with Monet Beltran: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/monetbeltran/ If you missed part one, go watch it first, because we left off with Monet's standing in a courtroom facing a real prison sentence, homeless, addicted, and at the absolute end of herself. In this episode, she comes back to the studio wearing a bow, and it turns out that small detail unlocks something much deeper. Monet opens up about discovering, in a recent counseling session, that her birth name was misspelled on her own birth certificate, that a sonogram told her parents she was a boy, and that a childhood memory of molestation she had buried for decades was the open wound the enemy used to steal her identity from the very beginning. What God showed her about the meaning of her own name, a gift from God, to be heard, brought both of us to tears. From there, Monet walks me through the night everything changed: her dad's persistent invitations to church, walking into a service and weeping under the presence of God before she even understood what was happening, and the moment she heard what she describes as close to an audible voice saying, "I am the one and only true God." She talks about waking up to a world that suddenly looked different, seeing color and beauty she says she'd never truly noticed before, and how within days she found herself canceling her own outrageous thirtieth birthday party because it simply didn't feel like her anymore. We also get into some of the funniest and most human parts of her sanctification journey, including a hilarious prayer asking God to turn a silver tooth filling gold as proof he could change her, and what happened when he actually did it. Monet shares the moment God told her, "I am who I am, and you are who you are," the words that finally let her stop trying to figure out her identity and simply receive it. This conversation is raw, funny, and deeply moving, and I believe it will bring real hope to anyone who thinks their story is too far gone. Thanks for joining us, and stay tuned, because there's a part three coming to cover her full physical transformation. She Thought She Was a Boy Since Age 4 — Gender Dysphoria, Addiction, and a Felony: And A Path to God | EP 21

On today's episode of Trusted Voice, I sit down with my friend Monet, someone I met about a year ago on an LGBTQ panel and instantly connected with, right down to the joke that we look like the movie Twins. Monet's story is radical. From the age of four or five, she insisted to her mom that she was a boy, demanded to shop in the boys' section, and wanted to swim without her shirt on, and her mom, who didn't know the Lord and didn't want to fight her, let her live in that confusion. I ask Monet to walk me through the difference between gender dysphoria and transgender identity, and she gets brutally honest about just how extreme it became, including a story she'd never told publicly before about avoiding women's restrooms altogether. We get into one of the most gut-wrenching moments of her story: going to the doctor at eighteen or nineteen convinced that testing would finally confirm she was actually male, only to hear the words "you're one hundred percent woman." Instead of healing, that diagnosis sent her spiraling into cocaine, alcohol, sleeping around, and eventually a felony charge that put her on the edge of a prison sentence, all while she cursed God and declared he didn't exist. Monae also opens up about a friend she calls "the bearded lady," a transgender friend who now feels permanently trapped by surgeries and hormones she can't undo, and what that taught both of us about the difference between love and truth. This episode ends right at the edge of Monet's rock bottom, in a courtroom, facing a judge who statistically had every reason to send her to prison. I don't want to spoil where that goes, because you'll want to come back for part two to hear how God met her in that courtroom and completely transformed her life from there. If Monet's story is speaking to you or someone you love, I want you to know your story isn't finished either. Thanks for joining me for this episode of Trusted Voice, and I'll see you next time for part two. Pastor's Daughter Trapped in a Lesbian Relationship — The Word Curse That Almost Destroyed Her Life | EP 20

One of the most powerful testimonies we've ever featured on Elijah Streams. Naomi grew up as a pastor's daughter, the oldest of nine homeschooled children in a home full of love and scripture — yet at just 12 years old, a confusing encounter and a word spoken over her by her own father opened a door the enemy would use for years to come. She walks me through how that door led her, in her twenties, into a years-long same-sex relationship, complete with a shared home, adopted pets, and a life that looked, from the outside, like it was heading toward marriage. What happens next is a real picture of divine reversal. Naomi shares the moment she looked in the mirror and realized her sin was destroying her physically, the agonizing process of leaving a relationship she was financially and emotionally entangled in, and the raw, months-long journey back to Jesus that followed. She opens up about forgiving her father, a battle that proved just as hard as leaving the lifestyle itself, and the vision of the cross that finally broke unforgiveness off her heart. From there, we talk about the ten years of singleness that followed, marrying her husband John, and the miracle births of her two daughters, Esther and Ruth Anna, at ages 40 and 46. We close the conversation with something every parent needs to hear: how to love a family member still caught in a homosexual lifestyle without losing them, and practical, spiritual ways to guard your own children in a culture that starts exposing kids to these issues far earlier than most parents realize. Naomi's story is proof that no one is too far gone and no prayer is wasted. If you or someone you love needs hope today, this episode is for you — and be sure to watch for Naomi's upcoming book, Free Forever, releasing this fall.
