So let's get back to the five elements and how they interact with each other. Today we are going to talk about the productive cycle which is used to strengthen and enhance the energy of an element. This cycle shows how each element naturally supports the next. For example, Wood fuels Fire, Fire burns down into ash which becomes Earth, Earth then produces minerals and metals, Metal creates water through condensation, and Water nourishes Wood. When enhancing a sector of your home, it is often best to use the productive cycle rather than introducing conflicting elements. Fire Element – South Sector The South sector of the home is governed by the Fire element and is associated with recognition, reputation and fame luck. To strengthen this area, consider using Wood elements because Wood produces Fire. Examples include: Wooden flooring,Wood panelling,Wooden furniture,Healthy plants,Good lighting Keep this area bright, active and well-maintained. Important: If the Annual Flying Star 5 visits the South sector, avoid activating this area for the entire year. Do not carry out renovations, drilling, or move heavy furniture. Instead, introduce Metal cures to weaken the negative Earth energy associated with Star 5. Metal Element – West and Northwest Sectors The West and Northwest sectors are governed by the Metal element and relate to networking, mentors, communication and helpful people. To strengthen Metal energy, use Earth elements because Earth produces Metal. Suitable enhancements include: Crystals,Ceramics,Pottery,Earthenware,Stone ornaments These items help nourish and support the Metal energy within these sectors. Earth Element – Northeast and Southwest Sectors The Northeast and Southwest sectors are governed by the Earth element and are associated with stability, relationships, learning and personal support. As Fire produces Earth, these sectors can be strengthened with features such as: Candles,Lamps and lighting,Fireplace features,Decorative lighting Water Element – North Sector The North sector is governed by the Water element and is associated with career, opportunities, wealth and success. To strengthen Water energy, use Metal elements because Metal produces Water in the productive cycle. Suitable enhancements include: Metal ornaments,Metallic picture frames,Brass, silver or gold-coloured accessories,Metal sculptures,Round-shaped objects You may also use water features where appropriate, but always ensure they are clean, well-maintained and suitable for the Flying Star chart of your home. Wood Element – East and Southeast Sectors The East and Southeast sectors are governed by the Wood element and relate to health, family harmony, growth, abundance and prosperity. To strengthen Wood energy, use Water elements because Water nourishes Wood. Suitable enhancements include: Water features, either indoor or outdoor However, avoid using excessive amounts of Water. Too much Water can overwhelm the Wood element and create an imbalance within the sector. Feng Shui is always about creating harmony rather than introducing an element in excess. A Final Thought The Five Elements work together as a natural system. When enhancing a sector, always consider the element governing that area and support it through the productive cycle whenever possible. Remember that the Flying Stars, annual influences, external environment and your personal Gua number should always be taken into account before making significant changes. The strongest Feng Shui results come from balancing the Five Elements with the unique energy of your home.
